dug out 2 books from the "Should read/have read" list on Firewalker's thread and will start one today. They are Great Expectations and Jane Eyre and I'm ashamed to say I haven't read either :o As a friend of mine once said "Everyone wants to have read the Classics, but nobody wants to read them". My aim is to have read all on the list and will have a good go at that, starting now!

Inapickle has a thread about not buying new books until you've read all the ones you've got. I start every year with good intentions, read all my Jane Austen, then start to flag a bit, have never finished war and Peace; never started Madam Bovary, and have a stack of stuff that I *know* I'll like once I get into them.

Hope the gippy tum gets better.

Hiya Gill, I have read Madame Bovary and even listened to a serialisation (sp) of it on radio 7 recently. Plus I've read On The Road, Love in the Time of Cholera and Brave New World, so I don't feel too bad for the Enid Blytons and Bridget Joneses!

I went out for a 5 mile jog and feel a bit better, still a bit tender, but better for the run :j I've decided I'm going to commit to running every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. That way I can go while it's light and don't need to join a running club (that I'll make 100 excuse not to go to ).

I'll also incorporate some home exercise, weights, swiss ball, DVD etc:

Monday - Day Off. I'm always too tired so won't set myself up for disaster
    Tuesday - Home Gym
    Wednesday - Home Gym
    Thursday - Rest
    Friday - Run 3-6 miles
    Saturday - Run 3-6 miles
    Sunday - Run 6-8 miles

This week I'm going to try and cut out the nasties; wheat, dairy, caffeine, sugar and alcohol (:o) and see if the mini-detox sorts me out.
I don't get paid until Thursday so it will be good moneysaving to make soups, salads and hearty healthy food instead of relying on the canteen at work.

Right off to dry my hair, then dinner awaits - have a good evening :)

Yay to the detox! I find the next step is finding stuff to replace what you're not eating ........

I know - chocolate, biscuits, wine etc etc :o

I'll concentrate on beans and pulses, brown rice and veg, salads, homemade houmous - that sort of thing. I have a terrible sweet tooth, so might have to eat liquorice and dried dates to satisfy the urge.

    I feel better already :D
  • Snap! - Ive just been for a run (on my treadmill) - Managed just over 3 miles, but feel better for it. I am also starting a 5 day mini detox out of my Champneys book tomorrow - it says you should lose 'a few' pounds during the 5 days - I hope so!

Good luck with that MissO, we can compare notes :j
  • Do you recommend a brand of brown rice Mac as I find some quite too 'crunchy' or heavy if that makes sense...

I like Crazy Jacks Organic or Sainsburys Organic. I know they cost more, but when I'm feeling like a health kick I want optimum nutrition. (Usually followed by some high sugar item :D)

    Hello

Felt so tired and headachey yesterday after no caffeine - but today I feel MUCH better and the stomach problem has improved too :j I've been feeling so much healthier after just 2 days, so will keep it up. I doubt I'll exercise tonight though as I made dinner and forgot, so will do something tomorrow instead.
Christmas pressies for bargain prices :money: I might get everything out tonight and see what's left to buy (I might even do some wrapping :o)

I was discussing the book list with some people at work and we've organised a book swap "club", which has provoked much banter and a welcome change from the usual X Factor/I'm a Celebrity/Strictly conversations.

Hope the day has treated you well :)

I don't think the fact that you haven't exercised today is a bad thing - let the detox have chance to work, then use your renewed energy to your advantage :D
