I can be too materialistic FW that's for sure, so I'm trying to be less impulsive and that way I don't regret my purchases.

I read something interesting in the Observer Magazine today. Mariella Frostrup was advising a woman against falling for "the curse of our addiction to forward momentum". I am certainly guilty of that. The woman in question had a 13,3 and 1 year old and a 5 bed Victorian house. She was bemoaning the fact that after 3 years, they still hadn't fully renovated it and felt that life was passing her by!

It's too easy to think that happiness lies in the future, or when we have acquired x,y or z, but it's in the here and now and that it something I am trying to remind myself of every day. So I will do things gradually in this house, but firstly I will make sure I enjoy just *living* in it.

Hypno, I feel quite lousy. We had a take away curry on Friday night and although I've never had a bad meal from there.... I felt slightly nauseous after it, but was fine yesterday.
This morning I've not been off the loo (apologies for TMI :o) and have what feels like, period pain. I'm sure it'll be ok in time for work tomorrow though

I'm going to try and ignore and get on with my plans. Right off to buy myself a new loo seat!

Sorry you are not well.....I would guess that you had the bug anyway, because if it was the food on Friday, you would have been on the loo much sooner.

  • But at least you will have a nice new loo seat to sit on ...................................... um perhaps I had better leave

    Thanks both :)

DH came home and told me to stay in and "chill out" as we don't have to be anywhere. So no loo seat, but can live without that :D
He's taken the kids out to the supermarket and playgym - he's so good.

So I am home alone :j and have dug out 2 books from the "Should read/have read" list on Firewalker's thread and will start one today. They are Great Expectations and Jane Eyre and I'm ashamed to say I haven't read either :o As a friend of mine once said "Everyone wants to have read the Classics, but nobody wants to read them". My aim is to have read all on the list and will have a good go at that, starting now!

Bit miffed that I can't do any gardening, but it will all still be there next week - let's hope it's dry....

No KM, it's lower down than that :o My Mum had the exact same thing 2 weeks ago and is fine now, so I reckon it's just a bug.
    Thanks :)
  • Hope you feel better soon MacGirl - try having a banana - that's what NHS Direct advise, as it 'bungs you up' a bit (sorry TMI :o)
I also have some great classics sitting unread on my bookshelf, but I don't feel like reading anything heavy at the moment (come to think about it, I am never in the mood to read anything heavy) - Like you say, they are books you feel you should read, but don't particularly want to!
Can't beat a bit of chic-lit to cheer you up

DH is going to get me some MissO - thanks! ;)

Well, I've been quite productive during the last half hour:
    • Ordered the fabric online and got 6% cashback via Quidco - cha-ching!
    • Put in another load of washing - 3rd today and created 2 baskets to iron :o
    • Set up the ironing board so it is winking at me to get on with it - Grrrr!
    • Sorted a paper "Hotspot" as Flylady calls it. Thrown out some junk, filed some bills etc and signed a form that we need to send to the Solicitors
    • Cancelled my Which? subscription - forgot after the £1 trial and ended up paying £9.75 this month :wall:
    • Drank plenty of Peppermint tea to aid disgestive problems (and talked myself down from the ceiling after Google scare :o) All's Well :)
    • And read the first 2 chapters of Great Expectations, I'm loving it already! :T

Might even go for a run now.....
