Do you scoop the poop?

I'm another one who carries around pocketfuls of bags & tissues-have done since the children were little, & they are in their 20s now! Surprising how often a human needs an empty bag for something too.
Have you seen those little bags for carrying your keys, doggy treats, bags, phone, etc to clip on your belt loop? I'm thinking of investing in a kiddies back pack type thing, so whoever walks pup can just grab the bag along with the lead. We have to pass shops[well-we try to, but one of them gives out doggie treats..need I say more!lol]so the bag bit would be handy for the odd pint of milk or newspaper, or a little picnic if travelling further.Full time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

I have 2 dogs and I always bag it and bin it. Cant tolerate irresponsible dog owners
However I have seen on occasions, people who bag it and leave it on the street - I've even heard on another doggie site that they've seen bags of poo hanging from trees - what makes people do this???? They obviously have the decency to bag it but then why chuck it in a tree?
Yes, I've seen this when out walking too. My theory is that they dont want to carry it round with them but will pick it up later when they are on their way home. Am I being naive do you suppose?:rolleyes:Ellie

I scoop
. I even stood over an offering on the pavement once while OH went to get a bucket of water because we'd taken the dog to the beach the day before and she'd eaten a lot of sand..... need I say more! DFW Nerd no 239.....Last Personal Debt paid off Nov 2012!

We do this sometimes. But we normally leave it somewhere discreet, and ensure its somewhere where it cant be blown away. I've been known to hang it on a fence while walking around the farm land where we walk the dogs, and pick it up on the way out, the dogs get a longer walk this way as we have to walk around twice rather than the once and out the other end, if you see what I mean :rotfl:Yes, I've seen this when out walking too. Our local park only has one doggie bin, it did have 3, but for some reason they removed two of them. Some local dog walkers asked the council what they were supposed to do with the bags if they had already passed the bin and were told just to leave them under the street lamps and the road cleaners would remove them, but they dont, as most times when you go, the same squished up bags are still there awaiting removal, it looks disgusting, and I couldnt just dump my dogs doo-doos for someone else to peel off the ground.

I do scoop...don't like stepping in anymore than anyone else but I've managed (by mistake!!!) to 'train' my terriers to never ever go on concrete, short grass or a path. I did train them to go on the muck heap when I was down on the yard (murder being threatened at the time as OP were letting their dogs go in the hay barn:eek: ) and you never knew which poo to pick so I used to watch out for my dogs and when they were ready to go, send them to the muckheap and then praise like mad so now they disappear right under bushs to go, useful in the garden, I leave the end longer and the rest stays clean.......not the rottie tho, he loves an audience......waits for at least 3 people then produces....if you know what I mean:rolleyes:0

Yes, I always pick up and have bags in every coat pocket and handbag! However, a couple of times I have been caught out without bags and been shouted at! These were both near home and I went back and picked up straight away, would always do this. It's REALLY embarrassing being shouted at, and I hope I would have the nerve to do it myself.
It' SO easy to pick up, and can't understand the amout I see on pavements.
I do sometimes leave bag to be picked up on my way back, and always pick up whether it's on the street or in a field. Like the tip about carrying a spoon for runny ones!0 -
I have been reading this with interest - I have 3 dogs and pick up after all of them, unless they have managed to go where I can't get at it - and if can't I'm pretty sure others wouldn't be able to tread in it! Mind you, when all 3 go in different parts of the field that's a challenge collecting it all.
AND !!! there is a woman about 4 doors down from me who carries her dog to the grassy part by me, lets it poop, picks the dog back up and goes home. Without clearing up. The next time I see her I'll rush out with poopy bags and an
old lead......... If you wait for perfect conditions, nothing would ever get done! :T

I've got two little Jack Russell Terriers, one of them always waits till we get to the park, looks for the biggest/unfriendliest crowd of people and has a poo right in front of them  . They always give me evils as I crouch down, red faced, picking up the poo, muttering about my dog. Or if I walk the streets with the dogs (I live just outside the town centre), she always goes in front of shop doors or if people are outside their houses chatting. I try and pull her away, but have you ever tried to drag a dog that's having a poo? They just keep right on............. sooooo humiliating!! And now it's the summer holidays there's always loads of people about, can't get away from the shame! Unfortunately I don't have a garden, just a concrete yard, so the dogs think it's perfectly acceptable to poo anywhere outside, grass or path!:cool:0

A dog's gotta do what a dog's gotta do! But you pick it up so what are they complaining about? My dog decided she wanted to 'go' in the middle of the road once.. ..wasn't too amused at being dragged to the curb!DFW Nerd no 239.....Last Personal Debt paid off Nov 2012!

I don't think people are complaining, it's more the humiliation I suffer, several times a day, every day, in front of a lot of people:rolleyes: . That little dog manages to poo three lots of poo in front of three different crowds of people on each trip to the park! Luckily I buy my plastic bags from Wilkinsons, 10p for 50 bags! bargain!(yep I also use any other plastic bags I can collect. and like loads of dog owners I have plastic bags in trouser pockets, handbags, car, you name it there's a plastic bag waiting!)0
