I looked after my mums dog for 2 weeks, and felt more embarressed by not cleaning up after it, so I carried a bag and a small shovel whenever I took it for a walk! We have lots of dog bins in and around our area and I was pleased to find they were well used.

It does annoy me though when people allow there dogs to foul the path right outside the school, when there is a dog bin nearby!

    Instructions for pooper scooping:

    1. Measure between dog's rear legs eg Yorkie 3 inches, labrador 10 inches
    2. Find shovel of similar width (Yorkie might require garden trowel or even bulb planter)
    3. Place shovel in plastic bag, and take another bag along too
    4. When dog sits down, from tail end quickly push bag-covered shovel into space between back legs.
    5. Keep dog and shovel still until job finished (as in geo-stationery orbit)
    6. With a flourish, turn bag inside-out and tie up. Place bag and still-clean shovel in other bag, and march off.

I'm just editing to say, PLEASE make sure your bags are from Tesco. Combining TESCO and dog poo is such poetic justice).

Now thanks to Tommix & Queen Bear, now Lady Westy of Woodpecker :)
  • ok

at my work we have developed a freeze spray to spray on the poop which freezes it to make it easier to scoop the poop even when he/she has the runs.

just make sure you have the bag in one hand and fold it over the poop once youve scooped it.

my job is weird isnt it??

  • Has anyone got any ideas to stop cats doing their business on my gravel drive? I have to go out and scoop their poop weekly. It really is the bane of my life. I've read other web sites where they tell you to put this down or that down but I need something permanent to keep them off and something that will definitely work.

Yes, go and ask their owners to buy cat litter trays, clean them regularly and refill them with fresh litter. Get them to keep their cats in until they've pooed in them. Also encourage them to keep old cats who are afraid of wind, rain, damp pavements and clouds.... ensure that the said cat is too lazy to venture outside even on a mild and balmy day and even then it only goes as far as its own path

Works for my manky moggy

There's no way I would clean up dog poo

    So I don't have a dog - simple solution.

I hate the neighbours who let their dogs loose on an area where children play and NEVER clean up.
