Just dropped in to say had some good news on the mortgage front when I did the affordability chat with my mortgage provider on Tuesday. Turns out it wasn't as complicated as I thought and have passed. They are sending me the paperwork to change to a 2.79 fixed rate for 2 years, no charges for changing. It will reduce my mortgage by £34 a month but I am going to put that back into the mortgage by making overpayments for the time being. This will reduce the time it takes to pay it off or if necessary allow me to take a payment holiday it something untoward happens jobwise. If the over payments become too much I can stop at any time they said :-)
so next to tackle the electric and Gas bills.
Bye for now

Been up and fed the ponies, Gambler has a mucky eye again so will need to make up some strong tea/ salt solution to bath it with. Have got to pick up their winter rugs from menders after work £45 for 3. Getting prepared for the seasons ahead!
Mortgage paperwork arrived and signed, just got to get it into the postbox quick. If it gets there in time I will be able to start the new rate from 01/10 :-) Savings will be £35.60 per month :money:
Have looked into what I could save with the Electric and gas. I need to change to a normal meter first so need to find a supplier who will do this for free without a fee if you leave and then look for the best deal once I can pay by DD.
Better get ready for work and catch the postman
Have a good Thursday MSE Land

Hi TC:hello:
Good result - well done on sorting the mortgage:)
We changed from ECo 7 to a normal meter a few years ago, and now check elec suppliers regularly - for the last three years have managed to reduce bills by 10% each year (payments remain same due to hiked prices!) just by switching things off and teaching kids to do same!
Keep up the good work:T

That is great news TC. I'm dreading when I have to apply for the next mortgage (when I am DF). Also excited to - weird combination!
Good price on the rug mends. We just needed cleaning this year really - pony hardly needs one that has a rip in it which is very heavy....so unless we're in for a harsh winter, he should be fine (welsh sec A).

Well I've finally got around to the accounts for last month and have paid off £255.19 off of the overdraft:T which now stands at £910.67.
Have done a cashflow forecast and I'm still on schedule to clear it before xmas too
Have also done a long range forecast up to May 2016 which is when we want to move and I will still be short £1,000 of clearing the charge on the flat, so it looks like some more cutbacks are required
Night for now

Have done some more calculations.
If I sell the 2 year old, Mr G, and get a sharer for Mr H then I could if I'm very strict with my spending, pay off the charge on the flat in 12 months time. Mr H will be able to keep his stable and his shoes, which were the next cutback idea, but which would have made winter a bit of a struggle and riding limited as the tracks are too flinty and make his feet sore.
Have written out an advert for both ponios to put up at the yard to begin with as would be nice if it was people I already know. If not will have to look into cheap or free advertising.
Spent the afternoon at the plot doing some more digging, muck spreading and putting some onion sets in.
Have got Roast duck for dinner as OH found a whoopsied one at A$DA a couple of weeks ago and its been waiting in the freezer.
This evening its getting everything ready for work tomorrow and doing a menu plan for the week ahead ready for shopping at A$da on the way home from work tomorrow.
Will try and update my CV as well as thinking of looking for another job with a bit more money now I've been doing payroll for a year :-)
Bye for now MSE Land

OH is busy in the kitchen preparing the Roast duck :A He was planning something with orange with it until I pointed out he had bought 2 satsumas :rotfl: #he really should wear his glasses when he goes shopping!
I forgot to say that the fixed rate has gone through on the mortgage, so another wee saving. not sure if they are going to take the overpayment or the reduced amount though as I didn't see anywhere on the form to specify this
I have done a check on the Gas and electric bills as well and have gone through MSE to a price comparison site to swap to British Gas. I will then apply to get my meters changed to a normal one instead of prepay. I've should save £25 a year :money: and get £30 cashback :money:even if they don't let me.
That was a week ago and am still waiting to hear from British gas.
I've also had a chat with OH today and he seems to be abit more on board with the money saving now I've decided to reduce the number of ponios. He is thinking about reducing our Virgin expenditure which is mainly for his sky sports.
off to do some stalking on MSE

All sounding good TC. Just remember and I don't mean this to come across as harsh, there will be other ponios.
The sooner you get the debt paid off it will be a millstone gone.
