Well as with all cunning plans it went a bit wrong. Got Mr H in only to find he had an allergic reaction and was covered in lumps...I probably didn't shake the new flyspray well enough and it had citronella oil in it :o so no riding for a few days.

Then Mr G looked v lame when I went to catch him but was miraculously better by the time we got him to the yard. Someoene told me that all horses had been charging about in the afternoon so he has probably just knocked himself.

Decided to keep both in overnight and gave them lots of hay. Will see how they are in the morning after a rest.

Still managed an hour at the allotment :) took up the first load of manure and spread on top of the bit I dug Sunday. Got another small patch cleared before it got too dark.:)

    off to bed now..

  • Hi TC

Just caught up. You can go into the mortgage provider and ask their opinion - many will give you a soft quote - I found one really helpful recently, even if it was to result in me waiting until I am DF to get the farm we want. Maybe worth putting an appointment in with them or even going for a mortgage promise online. Don't hide anything tho as the underwriters are notorious for finding everything.

I'm managing to stay out of my overdraft now too although I'm 3 years away from applying for my mortgage LOL! Nothing like preparing well!

Take Care and keep smiling. Loving having more horsey people on here. (Are they at home, did you move yards, sorry I may have missed that?)

  • Hi DebtFree

To be honest I was thinking of just not declaring my debts as they no longer appear on my credit file. there is just a charge on the flat that they will obviously know about so I need to pay that off first. Then I would some of the equity to pay my debts. Or at least have be able to offer a full and final settlement. i don't think any mortgage advisor would be allowed to advise that.

Another option would be to sell, pay off the debts then try and buy again with what equity I have plus a mortgage. But I'm 48 and OH is 59 so getting late to get a mortgage.

Ponios haven't moved, I'm waiting to hear through a friend if they will let me back :o

Would love to have them home

Thank you Debtfree, it was really lovely. that will be the last camping trip until May next year now, feel a bit sad packing all the equipment away for another year!

I had plenty of time to think and had decided to give up the ponios for good as this would really make clearing the debts a lot faster. That was until I went to see them again, one look from those big brown eyes and I struggle to see how I could ever part with them :-(

anyhows lunch is over and back to work...Payroll this week

  • IMO the pony's make managing your finances easier, in the sense that you have something to help you get through it. Many of us have them and are accepting that it will take longer to pay debt and have ponies, but they are worth it. The reason I am wanting to be DF so badly is to have a livery/farm of my own so without them, it'd be pointless :) For me, of course, everyone's different.

  • Thank you Debt free that has cheered me up! I always feel guilty I spend so much on what my OH likes to point out is my hobby! Wish he hadn't given up playing golf!

Been up to feed the boys and its blowing a gale on top this morning.

    Better get ready for work!

    Have a good day!

  • Updated my budget last night and although there is £10 that has gone AWOL I am still on track to clear another £350 off the overdraft if I stay disciplined :j

OH works late tonight so had a chance to go riding or clear some of the weeds at the plot. The plot won...really don't want to lose it.....although OH thinks I don't have enough time. Was a lovely evening and I brought home a basket of onions that had survived under the weeds :) Took the Russell who loves to dig and bark and chase the foxes, but mainly bark!

Back home now and DS is cooking the Spinach and rice cheesy bake I made yesterday, so a lovely smell is coming from the kitchen :)

Sent sometime daydreaming in my lunchbreak today...couldn't believe the prices of property up in Scotland! Could get a smallholding for the price of a 2 bed terrace down here! Ponios could live with me then and the allotment could be outside the back door :) OH just said it's too cold up there and doesn't stop raining :(

Also was looking where we could save money without it hurting too much. I could get a better mortgage rate possibly saving £70 per month and I could save up to £300 per year on Electric and Gas...was appalled how much money I'm wasting!

Off to catch up on MSE

  • Managed to speak to mortgage adviser and could make a £25 saving by switching with existing lender. Its the easiest option but I still have to do the new affordability test and then an interview!

I asked what would happen if they decided I couldn't afford it as I already have a mortgage with them. They said I would have to stay on the flexible rate. How mixed up is that? If I can't afford my current mortgage I would have to stay on a higher rate paying more and with the risk of interest rates going up. If I can afford it I can pay £25 less and have a easy to budget fixed rate. Fingers crossed I pass the affordability test then

Had friends over Sat night for OH's slow cooked coq au vin steamed veggies and roasts. Followed by my own version of eaton mess and then cheese and crackers. Was good to catch up and had a lovely time. Managed not to drink too much too

Mother let me down as was supposed to be coming over to see my flat and the ponies. Wasn't really surprised as the relationship always was one sided. When I enquired if something had come up unexpectedly, she said she had to put her spring bulbs in! For goodness sake she is retired and does the garden all week

OH has been preparing lessons all weekend so I'v taken the Russell up the the allotment and cleared all the weeds, started digging it over and bought some onion sets and garlic to put in. Ponios had the weekend off for a change.

Am sitting with feet up and ankles now killing me from all the digging.

Bedtime soon as have to be up at 6 to feed the ponies and walk the Russell before work.

    Sleep tight MSE Land!
