Why are you waiting to move them, if you can save money now?

Hi L - always the voice of reason!
I want to move house next year to about 20 miles from where I live now . The rational behind this is its a lot cheaper the further you get from the city. I will be able to go from buying 50% to buying 100%, have some cash to make full and final settlements with left over and hopefully finally have a small garden. The repayments will also be lower as currently mine include £105 service charge on the flat and are at a variable interest rate of 5.5%. Although the commute to work will increase by 16 miles each way. (Still with me? I'm getting to your question lol) The ponios will have to move then and I don't like to keep moving them around as it increases the risk of injury getting settled into new herds, and cost about £150 for lorry/fuel each time.
However (I'm thinking out loud her) the moving will be a pipe dream I fear if I can't get the charge on the flat cleared as I think it will put mortgage lenders off. So It may be necessary to move them anyhow as it could save me up to £100 pm on livery fees. But then the chances of getting a sharer are slimmer as there is no school at the other yard, hence the lower livery cost.
I've started putting the word out that I may be looking for a sharer too at my current yard. Mr H is a sensitive chap so it will have to be to the right person though.
I seem to go around and around in circles ..sigh!
Anyhow OH came and helped for bit at the plot so quite a lot of the weeds have been cleared. My arms are stinging though as I disturbed a red ants nest!
Off to turn the ponios out now
Hope all is well with you L? Did you have a hangover after the party?

1200 off the debt.....does seem a bit of a no brainer. If the sharer is keen enough they wont mind travelling. Think you need to do a list of pros and cons for both scenarios.
A little delicate but healthier than the rest of the tribe!

Hi L,
Bet the house was quiet today then lol!
Regarding changing yards..It is whether the ponios can survive living out all year round and I would be giving up riding after work during the winter as no flood lit school. Oh and whether they would have me back LOL!
Anyhow its food for thought - still haven't discussed the tv channels with OH either
. I'm sort of still teetering on the brink of actually making changes. But working the sums out yearly is certainly a shocker  Just the sports package would save £300 of which would be £150 to me as we share the bills. I don't even watch it!
I've finally looked at the O/D I forgot to add to the SOA..it was £1,360 in July when I set up my New fangled spreadsheet and beginning of Sept it was £1005.86 :T . As long as I stick to my budget it should be paid in November. Will add it to my SOA Now.
Have made packed lunch for work tomorrow - salad with left overs from the bacon we had for tea tonight. And have cooked rice pudding for my breakfast tomorrow. I can't have cereal, toast or porridge due to wheat intolerance, and the Dr has suggested I have linseed with my breakfast as well which isn't too nice on cooked breakfast so am having rice pudding with sultanas - its lovely and a cheap alternative to the specialist gluten free cereals on offer.
Now for a nice cup of tea and off to bed, night night everyone!

Good morning! Woke up this morning to feed ponios and it was still darkish and the boys were at the gate waiting to be fed
Autumn is creaping in..not looking forward to the cold winter mornings ahead!
Did shopping last night with OH. wrote a list and planned the meals. Only bought up to Thursday as camping this weekend. Can't believe the price of food these days although am struggling with OH as he buys some expensive stuff and refuses to change, most is just for him as well. Checked the receipt and he had paid £7 for a bottle of wine and £6 for coffee  He then complained as I spent 50p on a tin of rice pudding to take for my breakie whilst camping!
Spent £4 this morning on ponios as a girl makes fly spray up for everybody. Its not cost effective this time of year to buy all the ingredients myself and its much cheaper than buying shop bought stuff at £15.
Am a bit tired and achy this morning after the exertions at the plot on Sunday. Have rescued some onions that survived under the weeds and can't wait to go back and see if any of the potatoes/ garlic have survived under ground.
Have started bagging the ponios manure instead of putting on the muck heap. Can put it on top as a mulch over winter then.
I hate to say it I feel there may be trouble ahead with OH as he does like to spend his money and as he has agreed a minimum DMP he wont cut back any more!
And have approached my friends still at the cheaper yard to see if I'm likely to be welcomed back....they are going to see how the land lies with the farmer and get back to me tomorrow. I left under a cloud somewhat as the 2 year old kept breaking through their fences and after some rows it turned out they hadn't attached it to mains electric and turned it on! Words were said I'm afraid and I moved on
Buy for now as work beckons

Hello!
My two live out all year - they do have field shelters with rubber mats that they can hide in if it's horrendous, but it's quite common to see them out on the hill in the worst weather imaginable, no rugs, heads down munching and, when I go to check them, absolutely toasty warm. The only time I find they do occasionally need rugs is if we get wind and rain at coat change time when they're covered in fluffy stuff without the long guard hairs on top to channel the water away.
Yes, they grow coats like yeti and that's usually supplemented with a nice thick layer of dried mud, but Finn will happily do a half hour hack around the village without sweating up, even in a full Welsh D winter coat.0 -
Thank you Caz! Am waiting back to see if we will be excepted back LOL! It would be a major saving if I can, although will be sacrificing riding after dark. H is an Irish cob and g a welsh d so I'm sure they can stay out. No shelters at either yard so I rug them up.

Have a cunning plan for this evening to try and get some time a the allotment. am going straight to yard after work, have got a change of clothes with me. Then catch ponios and ride Mr H briefly in the school. Leave them in for a munch of hay for a couple of hours whilst I go home and pick up the dog. then off to the plot to do some more weeding...I calculate I will get an hour in before back to the yard to turn the boys back out before the 9pm yard curfew. Then home for dinner. OH is at Badminton this evening so can't complain that I spend too much time at the plot or with the horses
now to grab my packed lunch before cracking on with work!
