I hear you on allotment sharing issues, one of the reasons I gave mine up. I never got a say in what was grown & was treated like a labourer; giving it up has actually made a huge change to my life. It will take a while to get the same quantity of stuff from my veg patch at home, but certainly worth it to not have 'the dread' every sunday.

Well done on all the cooking, sounds delish :D

Mmm Lula-Hula you have got me thinking re the allotment sharing. Is it actually worth the stress trying to continue until Sept? I can dig the pots, red cabbage, tomatoes, and shallotts up now it will just mean leaving the sweetcorn and R beans and lettuce behind. I can then concentrate on my new one and get ready for the autumn planting of onions and beans. I will phone her now to get hold of the shed key and see how she reacts.

Almost forgot ..another NSd for me yesterday. :) Also I did a spreadsheet for my monhtly spending and it could be possible to pay all me debts within 7 years which is much more encouraging than by the time I retire in 20!

Oops feel a bit guilty now Allotment holder apologised for taking the key by accident and has weeded my beds for me this morning! Just goes to show that I shouldn't jump to conclusions!

I've finally made it back to your diary to catch up with whats going on in your life! :D
Sorry to hear your friend is being difficult with you. It's a bit immature to be honest with you! Get your tools etc as soon as you can, then you can focus on your own allotment, and all the goodies you can grow from it!
I like having lots of seperate places to squirrel away my money too. I have my main account, my savings account for the deposit, an account for saving for my registration fees and an emergency savings pot for any unforseen expenditures! Also have my sealed pot, and money in paypal atm. It's so much easier to see exactly what money you have to put towards each area requiring money. Its amazing what brainwaves we can have at ungodly hours in the morning!

    Hope you are well.x

    Thank you eyebright!

Have got to pay for my parking permit at the end of the month, Think I will do a pot for that too and save up for next years over the year.

Did the weeks shopping Friday evening and managed to keep it down to £17.70 thanks to the tips on here! even got 3 whoopsied loaves of tiger bread for 10p each, perfect for the students sandwiches for London and toast. DD took me as well as she had shopping to do..so saved on the fuel.

Yesterday did loads of housework and nipped up to my friends allotment . Dug up some more taties, picked a lettuce, some of the toms that were ripening and some more runners. the smaller sweetcorn look like they will be ready soon too. then took most of my tools up to the other allotment and covered them with plastic sheeting as I don't yet have a shed. Hope they will be ok.

Went up to my allotment and started laying the wood chip paths down . Local treesurgeons leave piles of chipping at the allotment for us to recycle, so they are free :) Picked some courgettes. They are not very big some somehting ahd started to nibble them so thought i would pick them first!

Riding lesson was cancelled due to the weather :( On the bright side I have saved the money and didn't have to top up the car to get there.

Got up this morning and took DS to work for 6 again, too the dog for a walk and went back to bed and slept until gone 10..lovely! Have made the bacon pudding and got it cookng in the slow cooker. will have broccoli and Runner beans and pots with it. Have also made the shepherds pie for tomorrow. Added courgettes to it and reduced the amount of mince :)

Wish the rain would stop as it is pouring down here .....doesn't look like I will get to the allotment again this week end :( Am watching old films on TV instead.

Bacon pudding sounds interesting, have you got a recipe please. Shame about the riding lesson but could that be the first money in the pot towards the parking permit?

    Hi Lucielle,

Thank you for reminding me to use monies saved for debts rather than spending it! Riding lesson money saved will go towards the overdraft this month as costs me the most. Will budget £10 per month for next years permit as of next month, as I have enough for this years.

Bacon pudding went down well with the students even though I over cooked it and steamed it for 7 hours in the slow cooker. Receipe is from the Cheap Family Meals website created by other DFW'rs on here.

    link to recipe http://cheap-family-recipes.org.uk/recipe-bacononionpudding.html?opt=rdinner

am wondering if the recipe could be adapted to mince and potatoes?
