There's nothing wrong with it that anyone would be able to fix, it's a completely random occurrance that it'll go off when I open the driver's door - doesn't do it every time and there's no pattern to it at all.

Turn the sensitivity down or get someone who knows how to do it to do it. Or get an auto spark to fit a secondary override on it with a remote.

You do realise it is an offence and has been for some time.

An override would invalidate my insurance policy surely?

I don't know of any sensitivity setting either. Factory fit, not some aftermarket thing. I'd sooner have it ripped out altogether tbh.

Show me the law that says it's a specific offence for a car alarm to sound during the night/early morning? It's NOT an alarm that sounds the horn, so you can't get me on that one.

The override would not invalidate your insurance if you only used it remotely to get in the car.

Fair enough - but I doubt they'd be able to prosecute me for my alarm sounding every now and again whilst I fumble in my pocket for my keys.

It's one of these things where you get a warning to sort it out (or a couple) before they go down that route.
