There's nothing wrong with it that anyone would be able to fix, it's a completely random occurrance that it'll go off when I open the driver's door - doesn't do it every time and there's no pattern to it at all.
It's French, go figure.0 -
Buying a French car is an antisocial crime0

It might be going to the big scrapyard in the sky soon anyway, or at least to some dodgy backstreet repairer that fixes and sells Cat D's0

Turn the sensitivity down or get someone who knows how to do it to do it. Or get an auto spark to fit a secondary override on it with a remote.

An override would invalidate my insurance policy surely?
I don't know of any sensitivity setting either. Factory fit, not some aftermarket thing. I'd sooner have it ripped out altogether tbh.
Show me the law that says it's a specific offence for a car alarm to sound during the night/early morning? It's NOT an alarm that sounds the horn, so you can't get me on that one.0 -

The Noise and Statutory Nuisance Act 1993 makes noise in the street a statutory nuisance. Traffic noise, noise made by military forces, or from campaigning demonstrations is excluded. The following are included:
Vehicles
Noise emitted from a vehicle, caused by it or by car repairs, car radios, car alarms and parked refrigerator vehicles.
There you go.
The override would not invalidate your insurance if you only used it remotely to get in the car.The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Fair enough - but I doubt they'd be able to prosecute me for my alarm sounding every now and again whilst I fumble in my pocket for my keys.0

It's one of these things where you get a warning to sort it out (or a couple) before they go down that route. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

I seriously doubt they'd bother.0

If EHOs get complaints they will bother. If you get on with people your neighbours wont bubble you and you will be fine.
