^^ But lets say your pulling right out of a side road and there is a pedestrian crossing to the left (which normally makes a great opportunity to pull out as it stops both lanes), then instead of seeing this, some dozy git just stops right in front of you and blocks your only chance to pull out.......

aye, that's the time when it's perhaps an advantage NOT to have a handgun stashed in the glovebox :D

I was on a 3 or 4 lane motorway (can't remember) on Saturday. I was overtaking in the 2nd lane (ie the "normal driving lane" rather than the "lorry lane" as I have no idea about the inside and outside and whatever names). Then a van came up behind me and started flashing its lights and doing its horn and scared me :( I have no idea why it did it - it could have overtaken me in the other lane, and I wasn't driving constantly in that lane so it wasn't like I needed someone to force me to move over.

It also did it later to someone else in a small car.

    Get off the road.

I had a great one a few years back that will amuse some here.

I was driving down the left hand lane of a DC at the fastest speed I felt safe at given that the right hand lane was backed up heavily due to a roundabout half a mile further down the road (left hand lane feeds into a dedicated left turn sliproad that avoids the roundabout and thus is free flowing)

I had a tailgater literally right up my chuff, a few feet away at best, when someone from the near stationary right hand lane decided to suddenly pull out in front of me with only a few meters to spare. Not wanting to brake due to the tailgater I swerved into the hard shoulder and went around the guy who pulled out in front of me, at which point my tailgater went straight into the back of them.

    Result!

Two birds with one stone, good shot :).

I also hate it when you are parked on a main road and want to set off. Most people simply will not let you pull out, despite the fact that you are in their way and if they let you move off wouldn't be anymore.I try and time moving off with oncoming traffic so that the vehicles behind more or less have to let you out, but some still try and get past anyway.
Not letting people out of sideroads is equally selfish/short sighted as unless its some old duffer in a Rover 800 it makes no noticeable difference to your journey time.

Maybe those people were thinking exactly what I am . Moving off from a parked space and coming out of side roads , you dont have the right of way . Wait until there is a space as you should do . People who stop to let people out of side roads infuriate me as Im behind them and have to break as I have to be psycic now to drive.

Just wait until its safe to pull out dont bully your way out!!!!

My policy - if it is safe to let them pull out, and they don't look like they are going to force their way out, I'll slow down a bit and give them space to pull out. If they look like they are going to try and force their way out, then I won't give them any quarter. I drive an old car that I don't like.

No you don't have right of way, until something is coming the other way ofc. However, there is more to driving than simply having right of way.Being a good driver you would be courteous and observant ie spot that letting that person out won't inconvenience you and can avert any problems from them getting frustrated. It also keeps the roads moving better which guess what, saves money for everyone.

Those people letting others out of side roads, you must be a very poor driver if you think you need to be psychic to predict they are going to slow down.If you are looking further ahead than the car in front then you would account for this in your thought process and anticipate that they may let them out.Failing that there's always the big red lights that illuminate when someone uses their brakes.

Setting off is not bullying.Think about it, you are the obstruction and by setting off are removing the obstruction.I often wonder if these people who prevent you moving off would do the same if you were both walking down the street.Of course they wouldn't.
