Hmmmm - pity
I totally understand what you're saying about more debt and impact on the family etc, as they are real issues. But if all this chat sparked something, then it's mission accomplished
One thing I took away from MG's thread, was the whole mind-map idea, that a kernal of an idea can link to another and grow into something all of it's own. Exciting stuff - anything is possible so go for it :T0 -
Hi DT
first of all WELL DONE on the weight loss that is an amazing amount. And the trip with Souk sounds lovely.
Sorry that you have had a rough year. It must have been so hard going to the inquest for you GD. I hope the the coming year is easier for you.
I haven't followed your diary from the beginning. But are the debts joint debts? Or just yours? And I am also assuming that at some point you considered a DMP but decided against it? Is it something to revisit now?
I too have been wracking my brain for a money making scheme, but things that I have thought of like doing fair trade here (like the traidcraft catalogue and website) require too much money to start up.....
Best of luck you will find something I am sure

Hi Chev thanks for popping in and also for your PM much appreciated.
I must admit I will be glad to see the back of 2010 but at least I have one shining light in the year being my weightloss and it makes me even more determined to maintain it so that 2010 is not a complete write off.
The actual inquest was nowhere near as bad as expected it was definitely the thought of it that was the worst I can't praise the lady deputy coroner more highly I know the coroner and I am sure he would not have been so sensitive it also seems to have a drawn a line for my OD as she has made lots of positive steps forward since then arranging to go back to college next month, trying to sort her sleeping pattern out and being in touch more so that is a big relief.
The debts are joint we never separate money always jt accounts etc. and the debt swings from one of us to the other depending on whose card has the best offer I deal with all money issues and OH does as he is told :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: well most of the time I did succumb and agree to him buying a sports car a couple of years ago but as that is his only hobby and he is such a good OH definitely one in a million he deserved it although i would have rather reduced the debt. I can hardly complain though as I have spent a fortune on clothes and my diet this year so things even out. I have never considered a DMP and don't intend to our credit rating is good I know we have been turned down for a card recently but I think that is because despite closing two cards the available credit is too high and also we are not good customers for them as we no longer pay interest on our cards whereas before we were paying £800 plus every month some of our cards have credit limits over 20K which really I should reduce but I don't want to risk them thinking we are in trouble and not offering new offers so it is a balancing act. We have paid off over 30K of our debt already and the debt repayment has only slowed because our income has reduced, my diet costs and supporting two children through college/uni. Also I strongly believe that we owe this money and I want to pay back every single penny.
I am involved in fairtrade through the Cathedral Shop and it really is a non starter as far as money making is concerned as the discounts they offer are too small and even in the cathedral shop we have problems with goods going beyond their sell by dates but obviously it is a good thing for the producers and I do support them when I can.
I do have a money making idea at the moment which I am researching so fingers crossed that this is the one

hope your idea takes off for you.
Am so glad OD is returning to college and that you're getting closer again xx0 -
Hi DT, only just spotted you achieved your weight loss target, well done :T:T
I must admit on the making money side, I'm in a similar position, currently for family finances spending my time looking for bargains and making the money goes further seems to be more of a benefit to the family than any current moneymaking ideas. I've tried a few things in the past, but like you don't want to risk too much capital. But maybe the new year will come up with a wonderful idea!!
Hope you and your family have a happy and successful year in 2011.
Edit - just spotted you're researching another idea, hope it's the one you've been looking for.0 -
Doubt I'll be around later, so I just wanted to wish you and yours a VERY Happy New Year DT xxx0
