aaa gotcha now. I had a weird vision of having stepchildren who had lost one parent then losing yur partner hence you being single and inherting kids. I tend to be a bit over dramatic :)

There was a stray puppy in my version as well :o.

You sound a lovely caring person Georgie and hats off to you for taking on the responsibility at a young age (well, young by my standard ;)). Good luck :)

PS I drive through your land a few times a week :)

That's about the level of detail I'm willing to part with on a public forum, I'm not ashamed but anything more runs contrary to my rules, rule number 6: never write anything on the tinternets that you wouldn't want your mum/OH/employer* (delete as applicable) to read, rule number 10: don't talk trash about other people's mothers/fathers/brothers/sisters, you can talk trash about your own but it just looks cheap!

Now you have me wanting to know more about your rules:p

Welcome to the board, my mortgage is much bigger than yours and due to splitting with OH I am now chipping away on my own. Mine is due to complete in 2043, I'd like to say i'm aiming to have it cleared by the time i'm 40 (i'm 27 now), however i'm not sure how realistic that is!!

    Hi Georgie,

Fair play to you - with that kind of approach, there's no way the bank will keep hold of you until you're 63. You sound like a great "dad" as well - we're wishing you the very best with the kids, the house and the mortgage.

Incidentally, I'm now interested in the rules as well! Is rule no. 1 not to talk about the rules!?!?

    Cheers,

    Billy

Hadn't thought of that Gally! Georgie, if I've called that one wrong, please replace above "dad" with "mum" and retain the sentiment!

Pretty sure I'm right though....that's a guy's writing style to be sure....

    ooh, I assumed girl......

Just wanted to say hi - I just started my diary this week and am interested in yours and a few others on here (like babysteps) as am youngish (26) and have a mortgage in my sole name just like you - in terms of a goal for MF date, I have no idea as this is not my forever home - but I thinking that if I aimed for 40 it would give me something to work for.

Just nice to know there are others in similar positions!:A
    Mort at highest - June 2008 - £171,000 - Daily Int 5.9% = £27.64:eek:
    Offset Mort - Nov 2010 £150,299- Daily Int 3.75% = Nov £15.44
    Mortgage Jan 2012 - £136,000 - Daily Int 3.75% - £3.10

What's in my writing style to be a bloke? I'm a girl, through and through, I've had my arguements with you people (men) but never thought I sounded like you... oh my!:D

I'll write a proper update tonight, and as you've all, well some, asked I'll tell you all about my rules. I don't think I've ever written them down, just quoted some of the numbers so will try to remember which one is which.

Must also get round to subscribing to a few diaries that I've been reading, I'm not sure I'm very good at being congratulatory when someone finishes this journey, I'm just going to be very jealous!;)

  • OK so not much of an update but I did say I would, another rule that will not be broken, rule number 9 if anyone is interested. I will post my rule up but I need to get to bed now...
everything is going through on time for this purchase, so should exchange next week and complete the week after.

On a shopping note, see girl!, I have seen the dining table I want is on offer, less than half price so will have to go and order that and put off the delivery until I've moved in!
