    Well

New schools have been given the seal of approval, both boys like them, as much as they are ever going to like a school... we will see in september how it goes...

Spending diary up and running, well since payday, so I'm starting to pay attention to what I'm spending so will look at some stats later too see how bad I am with money...

How's the diary going? I saw you mentioned on DFW that you have 3 levels of categories - I'm impressed. How many sub-sub-categories altogether? Mine is quite boring by comparison - 23 categories in roughly 9 groups. I track income in 10 categories in 4 groups as well.

Yeah, didn't mean to show off, just kind of got caught up in a pi$$ing contest...

I have been recording everything for 2 weeks now so I'm only just beginning to get everything together, the last time I did this was when I was working out my budget for the house so I have a pivot table already set up... I'm not sure how many sub-sub-cats I have, I just have to pick from a list...

How's it going... I will pop over to your thread later...

I wasn't thinking of you as showing off. I'm enough of a geek to find your sub-sub categories interesting. :):o

I find analysing the spending, tinkering with the way I categorise things and the way I display them, is just as addictive as analysing the mortgage itself. I have mine in stacked bar charts - the chart for income and the chart for spending are to the same scale and right next to each other, so I can see how my outgoings compare with income at a glance.

How are your boys feeling about approaching the end of term at the schools they're about to leave? Am I right in thinking that at the moment they have to stay with your mum mid-week to go to their old schools, but once they leave school they'll be with you full time??? Or have I remembered that all wrong?

Its been a while, I've rounded down the mortgage so paid £40.50 this month...

My spending diary is nearly up to date, just yesterday to up date, so going well!:D

The kids are doing alright, some temper tantrums are creeping in, I'm not sure why but both DSs are screaming and shouting and stamping feet... I really thought I was over that phase!

Oh and the inlaws are causing problems... both sets, one not turning up wwhen they say they will and the other lot are puttting ideas into heads, not about looking after the kids but who is due what, really annoying...

I have had some weird financial things going on recently, two payments went out before I could talk to the bank, turns out the cross over period of paying my mums mortgage was not a good thing in another way! They have split out the insurance and the mortgage payment, all well and good, it means my mum can shop around for a better value policy. Well she really does need to, its twice as much as mine and mine includes contents and commission for the mortgage broker! The reason I know this is I've paid for it:eek: The new company had been given my account details then just set up a direct debit, I didn't think they could do that, I thought I would have to agree to it... ahh well it will all be sorted soon, at least no one has stolen my identity.

Glad you got the insurance sorted out and it wasn't anything likely to lead to further unauthorised amounts leaving your account.

Sorry to hear your inlaws are causing trouble. Whose heads are they putting ideas into?

Georgie, we miss you over here on MFW. Are you OK? Are your kids starting at their new schools this week? And how are you doing with getting stuff done to your house to make it nicer to live in?
