I must admit I thought you were some kind of troll. So my answer to your question 'What do you think of going into 'posh' rehab?' was as above. i.e if you have the time, money, drink problem and desire to stop going into rehab isn't going to do any harm. Short and sweet!
oh! I see...I think....That's okay . Do you still think I am some sort of troll?
I actually don't really mean posh - I suppose all i mean is a private facility that costs money and will keep you as long as you can pay...I ain't going to the bleeding Priory or the...what's the name of the famous American rehab that everyone goes to? Can't remember...too many dead brain cells.0 -

I have only recently (last few months) realised that alcohol has wrecked my life for years...I am seeking help through an NHS funded alcohol counselling service and am due to do a home based detox next month.
My 'typical' daily 'liquid diet' has been around 2-3 bottles of wine or a bottle of spirits. I have been in denial for SO long, somehow convincing myself that every one else was/is drinking the same! I know, how STUPID.
Not stupid - actually the human mind is very clever and inventive where making excuses for, or justifying drinking is concerned...
Congratulations though on realising you have a problem and seeking help for it. This means that you are, in some way, ready to give up your drinking....even though that probably scares you.
I hope you keep posting here and keep in touch - let us know how things are for you...I'm in pretty much the same position as you, although I don't have a detox planned yet.0 -

The annoying thing is until the detox I 'cannot' stop drinking but must drink my alcohol every day as I have severe withdrawals (shaking, more pronounced muscle spasms, sweats, visual and auditory hallucinations, it is awful and incredibly scary) I will beat this, however, I MUST beat this! Charlotte x
It is definitely very, very scary, but hopefully, a medically assisted detox will take the edge off these horrors...Although you can't risk stopping before the detox, could you reduce your daily amount in the meantime? It would give you some sense of control in the meantime and make the detox easier.0 -

Yes, in my experience, admitting you have a problem isn't "half the battle" or "the hard part"...the hard part is staying stopped. Thanks Graeme...0 -

Morning all,
I haven't been af for the past couple of days so my challenge scores are unchanged.
Things are about to change though. I saw the doc yesterday and my foot is still infected. He says I need to be on antibiotics for 6 weeks, I've got 2 weeks worth to start with and yes, they are the ones that react against alcohol.
This is the best chance I have to get off and STAY off the booze so I aim to grab the opportunity with both hands.
Hope you are all ok this morning, Have a good weekend.
RNOf all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.
