What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

I seem to succumb to nice weather etc and think its a good idea to sit in the garden with a glass of wine. Luckily, OH is far more sensible than me!!!

Oh that is me too! Before I kept a alcohol diary I thought my units increased "only" around Nov/Dec. But last summer I realised I was bad in June/July & August too. Sitting in the sun with a drink is my downfall.

Morning everybody and Welcome Rossie, this is a fantastic place to start your journey of well being. I highly reccommend reading Mark Tuchel`s 'Living sober sucks (but living drunk sucks more)'. Good luck, you have taken the first step, its not going to be easy but its not nearly as horrible as living drunk.
    23 af days thanks Shaggy

Tuesday has been my only AF day so far this week. Here's hoping to a few more.
I am slowly realising that for me, consuming alcohol is an automatic reaction to emotional/stressful situations, pretty much like smoking. I have kicked the cigarettes into touch, but alcohol is far harder to get rid of. Any tips/suggestions will be greatfully received.
I am off for a lung function test today and am feeling a little nervous.
Have a great day y'all and enjoy the sunshine

Got another one yesterday... so much for my giving up! But I am trying not to drink as much, and I am really aware of my personality malfunctions when I have had a drink or two!

Anyway, up to 11, over target now woop woop!

Also - well done on the weight loss mackeroo, and congrats on the holiday Miss Piggy, that sounds lovely!!

  • Thank you everyone for the wonderful welcome, I feel a weight has been lifted.

I have met my friend tonight, did have a white wine soda but that will be it for tongiht.

I will aim to join the AF Challenge on Monday and then make a committment for month of April.

I think it has to be one day at a time and tackle one thing at a time, although I do want to quit the smoking as well.

Night Night all I'm going to soak in the bath now and have early night.

Hi Rossie, I am a newbie too, I read your story and it resonated with me.
In my humble opinion you are more likely to succeed if you tackle one thing at a time i.e cigs first or booze.
A few rewards for your successful days, and no beating up when you fall off the wagon - remember to be kind to yourself.
    enjoy the journey
