Rossie_cheeks - welcome to the thread! You are not alone. In the past (and sometimes in the present still!) I've been a secret drinker. But, as Maman says, you've told US now! Please keep posting - you are very welcome to join our happy gang!:)

Apppletree - thank you!:T £5 gone in savings pot tonight as was tempted to ask OH to get me a bottle but he refused:o. I seem to succumb to nice weather etc and think its a good idea to sit in the garden with a glass of wine. Luckily, OH is far more sensible than me!!!

    Hello Rossie
I'm so glad you've joined this club. As you can see, this is my first week (and first step) to turning my life around. For the time in years I've had TWO AF nights and boy do I feel so good. Don't get me wrong, I'm not feeling like running a marathon or look any different, it's just the fact that mentally I have discovered I've got the bloody willpower than I thought I didn't have - and I know for sure it's because I've joined this group of supporters.

I can so identify with your life (at 50 something we all have pretty sad baggage) but drinking is such a depressant and just makes everything worse and its a vicious circle.

Yesterday I got confirmation that actually I had done no harm to my body but the dr said if I had continued drinking over a bottle of spirits a week, it was just a matter of time. The human body is unbelievable isn't it, it's amazing what we do to it, and it still functions!

I cannot wait to have a few weeks under my belt. Maybe it's because the sun has shone this week or that I've decided not to ruin my life anymore, that I feel so happy and I wish with all my heart that it lasts for a long time. Like everyone else says, we're all in this together - united we stand. I wish you all the best. Maggie

:rotfl::rotfl:You are doing so well! x

MissPiggy, I think putting the money into a savings jar is a really good idea. When my mother gave up smoking she put the money in a jar, then bought herself a new oven! I thought about putting a 'reward for not drinking' amount in a jar towards new clothes for when I lose some more weight.

maggiesoop, rossie and appletree4, you are all doing so well already:T.

Could I please have my score updated to 3/6 please Shaggy! Drinking tea for Britain!
  • Thank you everyone for the wonderful welcome, I feel a weight has been lifted.

I have met my friend tonight, did have a white wine soda but that will be it for tongiht.

I will aim to join the AF Challenge on Monday and then make a committment for month of April.

I think it has to be one day at a time and tackle one thing at a time, although I do want to quit the smoking as well.

Night Night all I'm going to soak in the bath now and have early night.

Lovely post Rossie, you sound brighter already. Now you can build on it! Good idea doing one thing at a time - manageable, baby steps otherwise you'll be overwhelmed. Good idea about meeting a friend, pampering bath and early night. That'll help you with the boredom/loneliness thing.

Congratulations mackeroo:T You're doing so well at the fatclub.I've lost a similar amount (2st 2.5lbs) but it's taken me 6 months. Well done on resisting the offer of wine. Enjoy tomorrow.

First night back on the wagon for me, visitors gone and back to 'normal'.

    10AF please Shaggy

Target met and now it's upwards and onwards. Hoping to get, at least a couple more before April.

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

Good morning! Another AF night, so have hit my target of 15/15! Shaggy, can I keep posting my AF days, to see how much over target I get?

    :j:j:j:j:j :D

    Indeed you can!
