Just popping in to say hello. Had a very rough few weeks but appears to be behind me now. Thank goodness.

Still sober, I did lick my finger as I decanted my sloe gin into pretty glass bottles for friends and it did taste nice!!

Rather proud that I've dealt with the last few weeks without a drink.

    Best wishes to all. x

Good to see you 365, pleased to hear that things are on the up. :Ton staying AF. I think it's a real turning ppoint when we can control alcohol rather than the other way round.

I haven't completed this weeks challenge, but am not going to beat myself up about it. I had some social events on this week, so should have set more realistic goals. I didn't go overboard, and was reasonably moderate, which is what is important to me, although I would in future like to stick to targets.

Trouble is I'm up, and down like a yo-yo. Currently am down, and struggling to snap out of it. :(

You're so right about realisitic targets HLS. As a cutter-down, it's the staying in control and having planned drinking days that helps me. I always check my diary before setting targets and err on the side of caution. Exceeding targets is an excellent feeling! But you're right, no point beating yourself up. It's done now. Sorry to hear you're feeling down. Is it just AF targets or is RL getting in the way (it's annoying like that:))?.
  • 10 for me Shaggy. Just been told that there will be no payrises where I work for the 3rd year in a row . Bah humbug. Time for a change methinks.
    ...nothing to see here...
  • 13 please, Shaggy, thanks - have a lovely weekend, wherever you are going!

Out last night for Christmas meal with friends - didn't do TOO badly on the wine, drank about the same as everybody else - and then decided to have a couple when I got home - idiot - so felt rough today. None tonight though, to make up for it. Just realised that when I do one more AFD, I'll get a reindeer - yay!

    Hope everybody OK.

    xx

  • Hi all,

    Welcome Mackeroo and good luck.

Just about to start wrapping presents in a moment.

Not been AF since last Saturday but AF tonight so 4 for me please Shaggy when you get back.

Best wishes to all and a hug to anyone who needs one. Its a funny old time of year in many ways.

  • Morning all

    14 for me please Shaggy

Unexpectedly AF last night. Was absolutely exhausted so went to bed at 8.30pm and slept solidly through to 7am.

Took Piglet to see father Christmas yesterday. He went all shy, bless him. Managed to get out what he wanted though:rotfl:

Snow here this morning....falling quite heavily at the moment. I dread snow. Causes havoc. I work for an international carrier and this is the busiest week of our year! They were hoping to deliver a lot of hampers and wine today...somehow think next week is going to be a nightmare.

  • 9 af days for me please shaggy.
  • Morning everyone!

1 more AFD for me please.

So not very good for December so far, but 1 AFD is better than zero I suppose. It's my uni Xmas do tonight, so I will be drinking.

I will try not to drink tomorrow, but I am usually terrible on a Sunday - the bells start clanging at around 4pm!!

Still, I am feeling much happier in myself generally. I am one of the posters on here who can't wait for 2010 to be over and to start afresh next year. It's been a life-changing year for me as my marriage ended this year and I started divorce proceedings a few weeks ago. Our house will hopefully sell early on in 2011 (fingers crossed) and then I really can move on with my life.

This year (following the break-up) has also ended up being the worst time for me in terms of my drinking. I've been drinking more heavily and more often than ever before in my whole life. So 2011 is definitely when I am going to make being AF my priority every day then everything else will slot into place once I have nailed my alcoholism.

That's what I've learned from GraemeC and Recoveringalcoholic on this thread - being AF is the most important thing and should be the focus of my efforts and all other good things will flow from that.

The snow is so gorgeous here at the moment - really feeling very happy today and hopeful for the future! :T

    Hugs,
    Caz
