    Morning all

Hi Aaagh (superb user ID!) and a big welcome to the thread. I think most of us on here can identify with your post, I know I can. I hope this thread goes some way in helping you cut down your drinking and helps you to identify triggers and try to stop them. Please keep posting :)

WBF, why you been up since 3am? Hope you have a good day. Why not plan a cosy evening in, hot choklit and early to bed? xx

Well, what a great morning it is :D It's half term and as quiet as you like at work, only 3 of us in the whole building yesterday compared to a 1000, bliss, Absolute 80's blaring from the radio, lots of dancing around the office and stuff :D. Plus no hangover and a lovely AF sleep now that the dreams have subsided....day 10 today, nearly in double figures ;)

Hope you all have a wonderful day, gotta dash off earlier today and take the lil'uns to my dear ole mummies as DD1 is working.

    Chow for now

    xx

ETA: MP wasn't around yesterday was she?? Oooooohhhh!!! :D Must text her when it gets to reasonable hour!

    Morning Jo,

I often find if I drink too much wine of an evening I'm pacing the house at 3 or 4. It starts with needing to visit the bathroom and with redundancy looming and nausea from the booze and a head that is good at worrying at the best of times I am on a hamster treadmill of fretting and thinking that won't let me go back to sleep. After a while I give up and go and tidy the kitchen, which is usually looking like a bomb has hit it as I had too much wine and didn't tidy up the night before.

Your cosy evening in idea sounds great, if I can get through today at work. The worst thing is half my stress keeping me awake at night is the lack of job hunting I've done, only 3 applications so far and rejected from two of them already so only one live one out there and out of a job end of November. Wish I knew why I'm procrastinating so much on it. Today's reason will be tiredness and my hangover but even my not hangover days I faff around all day doing anything except job hunting. Daft.
  • Morning all

WBF ((hugs)) hope the job hunting proves fruitful for you, the thought of redundancy is very stressful, I went through it whilst pregnant so I fully sympathise really hope something turns up for you

YM good luck for DD today ((hugs))

AArgh welcome to the thread, I too have been drinking too much since around my late teens and I am 41 now, mine started out weekends too and I have found since having my DS just over a year ago that it has crept up to almost every night and I have been drinking around a bottle a day  My DD who is 17 on Thursday has commented lately on my being argumentative with my dh when I have had a drink and it makes me feel really bad :o Why not sign up to the Mon-Thurs challenge or just pledge for one day and see how you go, we will all be here to support you, there is usually someone in here any time during the day or night! Good luck hun ((hugs))

Shaggy can you add me to the list as 7/31 so far this month please :D

Jo I have done day one of your challenge thanks :D

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

    Aaaagh welcome-1.gif

A number of things that might help get you started on the AF road.
    • Don't keep alcohol in the house
    • Find something else to drink - for me it's hot chocolate
    • If you can't quit completely - try drinking later and later into the evening until it's so close to bedtime it's not worth having a drink
    • Seek help from a doctor
    • Phone AA
    • Keep posting
Just a few thoughts. Other posters might have some more thoughts. Can anyone recommend some good books?

    Good Luck

I know the waking at 3am thing, though didn't start happening to me till very recently, previously I used to sleep all night, very deep alcohol stupor but I think the waking up thing was a wake up call for me (excuse pun :))

I am a professional procrastinator  though must admit I've had a little bit more get up and go over the past few days which I can only put down to not drinking :)

Hope your day is uneventful lovey xx

  • Morning all

17 AFDs for me please, Shaggy
Completed Day 1 on the Pen challenge, please Jo

    Have a good day everybody.

I can completely identify with Aaargh and Shoppy.

Hoping to have got out of my pattern built up over many years by the major work changes I have made over the past few weeks, involving mega decisions - and just acceptance of who I am and what I am capable of, allowing myself to accept that I actually could have a high earning job (just resigned from it in fact) but that I'm not the type of person who can combine this with being a mother and giving enough attention to my teenaged children. I understand that teenagers need lots of undivided attention. So I've accepted that I am lucky to be able to freelance from home and still earn a decent amount. I think this acceptance will stop me from running to wine to blot everything out. Or at least, to be moderate, without the need to go overboard.

Right, got that off my chest!

    xx
