:Tcongratulations Hiney (and thanks for dropping by to tell us) and well done on your year 365 (will pass on the cake if you don't mind, a bit early for sweet stuff:D).
Aagh, welcome. I empathise with you completely. I could blame my former stressful job for my nightly drinking but I know it's because I enjoy it and it sort of defines 'me' time. I'm one of a few cutters-down on the thread. It has helped me enormously both with ideas and support. Shaggy gave you some very good ideas for cutting-down, I'd add:- find something else to 'do' of an evening. Obviously with a little one it won't be easy to go out but try not to have 'slumped on sofa watching TV with a glass of wine' as your evening plans. I go to a dance class on a Monday night and find it sets me up well for a week AF.
- I find setting targets really helpful. It works for me like sticker charts do for children.:o When I first started I did keep a special calendar to mark out my AF days. And I'm a sucker for little jumpy men!
- I don't know whether you can easily afford what you're drinking but save the 'wine' money and treat yourself to some pampering.
- I find sharing with people on here helps. It's not just the obvious support but I find if I've said I'm going to have (e.g.) 10AF days then I don't enjoy coming on here and admitting I've let myself down. That being said, people aren't judgemental but I know.
- Sadly, some will power is needed but you'll feel so good waking up next day having been AF, it's worth it.

I've done it! One Year sober for me! Have a slice of cake everyone..
Wow, that's really impressive - well done!! Thanks for the cake, I need the sugar to get me through this afternoon! Surviving but not thriving today, that's for sure. The good thing was I bought lunch yesterday when I wasn't hungover and left my purse at home so didn't do my usual greasy food binge at lunch.
Thanks for the hugs, I appreciate it! Have a good afternoon!0 -
365 Huge Congratulations, please keep on posting won't you we need the inspiration from success stories like yours

(I will pass on the cake though as I am on a healthy eating plan!)
Managed to avoid the alcohol aisle at Asda by a wide margin so will be AF again this evening, hope everyone is happy with how they are doing today?
