Did you try for any compensation/good will gesture for all your expenses and inconvenience?
Result?
Regards oap0 -
Just this minute had a call from Biscit. She reset my password to what I had previously had it (it was 6 characters). Now it works so I am connected again via 0808 993 3025. :j0

Well, i am glad to see that someone is happy - well done oap and exprog
glad to hear that they finally sorted out your main probs.
They (biscit) could easily make three people happy here.
All they have to do is to confirm that my account has been cancelled - simple
Simple? apparently not for biscit. I tried very, very hard yesterday to make some form of human contact, to no avail.
That, i'm afraid, means we are being totally ignored by this company, and to me, that is not acceptable.
They leave me no choice but to follow in the footsteps of Paul (caretaker), who has shown us a lead here, and start a write up of my very own blog.
So i threw one together quickly this morning
http://soggybiscit.blogspot.com/
it's now off and running on good old Blogger.com
Anyone else?0 -

Probably not much comfort to you but my timescale was that I sent an email on the 23rd and phoned on the 27th. Perhaps they are working through things in the order received?
Meanwhile, this is now the third time today I have connected without problem. On the first occasion I stayed connected for over 1¼ hours before logging off. :j0 -
This is the first time for over a week that I haven`t been cut off after an hour.
Still going strong after 1 hour 20 minutes.
No email though, despite trying every combination going!0 -
Oh dear. Looks like I spoke too soon. All is not fixed at all. I give up. Not even angry anymore, just bitterly disappointed. Honestly, don't know why I expected any different. Lost track now of what I can do and what I can't with this or that password here or there.
So, as I have over a fortnight until the next (scheduled) payment date, I'm cancelling my V21 account. Simply stopping my card and ordering a new one that they can't steal money from. Not feeling the need to communicate this to Biscit, or V21, or Fast4, or whoever the h*ll they are. They've not felt the need to communicate with me, so I'm returning the favour. Anyone from Biscit reading this, you can figure out who I am from my username here, I should think - come and steal your next payment quick, while you still can - I'll just add it on to the amount you've already taken a) without authorisation and b) in error from me.
Would love to fight this, set up my own blog (nice one, GuessWho, by the way), but simply don't have the energy now. Cannot be ars*d. Maybe tomorrow, when they might respond to my message on the members area.
Which is up and running now, for anyone who's not yet realised. For the moment, anyway. Am sure they'll crash it again just as soon as they realise...
Right, rant over. Achieved absolutely nothing, but feel a little better. Am off now to do something constructive and open a nice bottle of red while I think about cooking my dinner. That's before I pick up my laptop and throw it as hard as I can.   (Oh, perhaps I am still a little angry after all...!!)0 -
Still cant connect
Unsuprisingly cant login to members area either
What an utter shambals0 -
Clock - Very sorry to hear of your loss, mate. I think I speak for all of us in sending you our deepest commiserations.
SMTP - last night smtp.speed-mail.co.uk worked for me albeit after a weeks absence. Failed to work this morning. I've now tried some variations and found that tel no 0808 9933025 works with smtp.members.v21.co.uk (many thanks to Titania777,post #443 for this!). I don't use Fast4/V21/Biscit for my email pop3's so can't comment except to suggest that if smtp.members.v21.co.uk works then mail.members.v21.co.uk should theoretically work too. If your password doesn't work, try their default one => qazwsx.
Re being unable to log on to the members control portal, I now find that using IE, instead of my usual Firefox browser, enables me to log on and start my long list of queries with V21/Biscit!
exprog - Ouch! After reading your post #452, now my head hurts!
GuessWho - nice one, once it gets going, send the link to H.Patterson, aye?
Hana - Anyone ever told you that you're FANTASTIC! when you're angry?I'm NOT political so DON'T correct me!0 -

Thanks for the reply. Now my head hurts!
Let me see if I’ve now got this straight.
Fact. I signed up with Fast4 dialup on 1st September and received confirmation emails from new_signups@ispserve.co.uk.
Query. Fast4 was really V21 and only pretended to be Fast4.
Sorry about the headache
V21 was fast4's parent company, as far as I know they operated from the same address. I think it would be accurate to describe the old Fast4 as a V21 brand name. V21 offered internet services under a few of their own 'brand names', they also provide internet, billiing and support services for possibly something like 50 - 70 independant companies (resellers) and affilates.Fact. On 6/10/06 I received two virtually identical emails informing me I was to be transferred to a new supplier. The one from unattended@v21.co.uk was from the old supplier; the one from unattended@njpservices.com was the new supplier. Ignoring emails, the only change I needed to make was to use a different phone number (i.e. 0808 991 6234). Neither email specifically named the new supplier.
Query. Some Fast4butreallyV21 customers received these emails and others did not.
I understand that when V21 was sold to Biscit the Fast4 brand name/company was retained by the former owners or senior employees of V21 and is now being run by them as a new entirely separate entity.
However, there appears to have been some dispute over the ownership of some customers that joined under the Fast4 brand when it was still part of V21 and of the ownership of billing software written by V21, all of which appears to have been resolved in Biscit's favour.
I found an intriguing discussion about the new Fast4 http://www.ispchatzone.co.uk/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=89&PN=1
I find it curious that the new fast4 billing system is to quote a post from that thread "slightly diffrent so no bugs or errors".
If it is basically the same software written by the old V21, isn't it strange that they were apparently unable to fix the creeping payment problem and other billing problems in their own billing software for over a year, but it is fixed when they start a new company?
Fact. Biscuit acquired V21.
Query. All Fast4butreallyV21 customers should have been transferred to V21butreallyBiscit.Query. Actually, some Fast4butreallyV21 customers were actually transferred to a new (totally different) Fast4.
I read a post, I think in either V21's forum or the ISPchat forum that there was some sort of "misunderstanding" by the old V21 managment as to who these customers belonged to and they were apparently mistakingly transfered to the new Fast4.Fact. Initially the new telephone number provided to me worked intermittently but seemed to stabilise and provide good reliability by approximately the 16/17 October.
Fact/Query. The press release you cite was issued on 18th October and said that some Fast4butreallyV21 customers were wrongly transferred to the new Fast4 but were now restored to V21butreallyBiscit.
Fact. All access to Fast4/V21/Biscit ceased for me on or around 19th October.
Query. The customers transferred to V21butreallyBiscit should actually still be using 0808 993 3025.
FAST4 Customers
We have had a number of calls with reference to a message received by Fast4 customers a few weeks ago. The message asked customers to change their dialup details and their login details to access the Fast4 Dial up connection.
We would like to confirm that Fast4 customers, are customers of V21/Biscit, and as such, should be using the 0808 993 3025 dial up number to access the Internet, and the original login details.
The 0808 993 3025 number is working, and available to all V21 customers.
If you are having issues connecting to this service, we would recommend in the first instance recreating your dial up connection within Windows XP, details can be found here.
If however you are still having issues, then please call 0871 433 3129 and ensure you leave details of the login ID and password you are having an issue with, this will allow us to diagnose, and repair any issue with your account before we call back.Query. Some V21 customers have been ‘lost’ from the system but others are still receiving a service.Query. Someone tried to cheat Biscit by depriving them of customers they had paid for.
