Hi all  and happy halloween8_1_225.gif

8_1_223.gif Flying visit today as I "should" be writing an article but am managing to avoid in many many ways:D

pp sorry to hear you are not well again - have a good rest today hope you feel better very soon

snowy I hope you manage to get some good sleep soon those work hours and your lack of sleep cant be good for you hun

Am a bit annoyed this morning as I had rearranged my work in Scotland this week so that I could get some outstanding housy things done. Yesterday I had the pump replaced on my CH so I now have heat which is great but today I was waiting on Sky to come and sort my sky plus out which is having major wobblies. Today was the only day they could come out so I had to rearrange 2 work days with british gas coming yesterday. Anyway they phoned this morning and the engineer is sick so will need to rearrange:mad: so thats another day gone next week.

Anyway the real reason for me popping in today was not to have a moan :o but to let you all know (cos I know she wouldn't:rolleyes: ) that tomorrow sees the official launch of Ticklemouses business. She has put so much hard work into this and I wanted to ask you all to send her loads of positive vibes for the launch party tomorrow night.
Good luck hun not that you need it of course:j :j

    Have a great Halloween all

    Hi All

Hugs to all those who need them. I wish I could offer some advice to all of those with sleep problems, but except when I was pregnant it is something I have never really suffered with.

Old style has had a blip in our house as we have been off on holiday, but OH did a meal plan on Saturday, but took the plan shopping - and lost it, so now can't remember what was on it.
I was impressed when we just manged to defrost a pastabake for dinner last night - the benefit of a previous batch baking session.

I am at work all day today, but off with the LO's tomorrow. They loved splashing in a big puddle at the weekend - so I am going to see if we can go and play in the leaves in a wood tomorrow - cheap ols style fun for us.

As a long time lurker and occasional poster can I please reiterate what the lovely ladies have said about carbonmonoxide monitors. Having just won the annual battle to light the Rayburn I can vouch for how important these items are. 2 or 3 years ago we were woken at 2am by the CO alarm going off.. If you think smoke alarms are loud you should try this baby!! I had lit the Rayburn ( its solid fuel and a !!!!! to get going) the previous day but had obviously not got something right. It turned out the inspection cover on the flue wasn't correctly sealing and was leaking fumes into the house. One very scary moment. All windows and doors opened and me standing with the alarm outside trying to shut it off!!!
I wouldnt be here now if it hadn't gone off.. a salutory lesson indeed. I now religiously check all joints and covers when I light up ( I use the meter to make sure).
My point is I suppose that if you have a heat source eg gas fire, in your property it is well worth purchasing a meter if only for peace of mind.
Not strictly OS I Know but relevant to the discussion.
  • Good Morning & Happy Halloween

(((PP))) Hope you feel better soon.

Queenie - thanks for the link - had seen an advert on telly but missed when its on so have Sky+ now.

Seemed to have slept well last night but for some reason feel absolutely shattered today. Oh well its my excuse for another Mocha Coffee.

Doing a little bit of admin work at the mo, then will shut door on the office and go and make chilli for tonight. Will be in slo cooker so we can dip into it when we like. Need to carve pumpkin and get rest of decorations out. Also may need to get some more sweets once Ive checked. Our village goes into it in a big way and I love it. We only go to houses that are decorated but that is most of them anyway. Think will also make some leek and potato soup.

Weather here is lovely - slighly chilly but bright sunshine - perfect. Have got 1 load in wm and 1 more to do. So far am keeping up with ironing.

Off now but hope you all have a great day.

OK I have to tell you about my night in a haunted house!

Arrived 9.30pm, and shown around the house, and found several rooms I didn't like.

10pm set up "base camp" upstairs. Two of us stay upstairs, the other two explore. The two of us upstairs see someone watching us from the doorway

10.30pm All four take to the ground floor to explore in the dark. Lights off and although no one's near me, the call button on my walkie talkie's pressed, making the other one ring:eek: We go through to the two spookiest rooms in the downstairs. They're almost one long room, with a partician. We've been told it's a popular room for ghostly experiences. We spend some time in here

11pm We head over to the kitchen, which is opposite the scary rooms. Me and Lou become fixated on the doorway to the scary rooms. We were unable to move and could feel something coming towards us. I could also hear a dragging noise, like an old fashioned Victorian skirt dragging across the ground. Then the two of us turned freezing cold and the room was boiling. A third person then heard the skirt on the floor:eek:

12midnight we mention it's midnight and a cup breaks, with Lou left just holding the handle:eek:

2am Both Ian and I see someone watching from the highest bannisters

All evening we heard clicks, bumps and the lights kept flickering. Very spooky evening

Sounds spooky scuzz - bet your glad to be out.

Seems like everyone's having a bit of a downer today - :grouphug: all round I think.

DD2 has got impetigo - got antibiotics - bless her she's quite sore, means no more school this week so will have to find things to keep her occupied...can't remember the last time she had a day off ill.

Popped into town to get some bits for birthday pressies for DD's friends (2 birthdays this week that she wanted to buy for) I've done the hot choccy, spoon, mug, marshmellows and choccy button concoction, got some lovely cellophane bags in the card shop and found some raffia to twist round the top - they look great and cost around £3.27 each (went for whinnie pooh mugs) Think she'll be pleased when she sees them.

BM needs to go on with dough for rolls, Jacket spuds for tea as DH needs to get in, eat, shower and go out again. Not answering the door to trick or treaters when I'm here alone, that's if they can be bothered climbing past the skip and pile of sand on the drive!

Just about to brave the depths of my wardrobe - wish me luck!

  • Afternoon all.
((((Hugs)))) to all those who would like them/need them.
What a windy day. It's bin day here and now the rubbish has gone all the empty black bins and recycle boxes are blowing everywhere and smashing into cars and going in the road. Have out my washing on the line in the hope the wind will get that dry. I am so glad it is 1st November tomorrow because I was determined to not put the heating on until then. DH really wanted it on last night but I told him he had to wait.
Have just collected DS from nursery so we are in for the afternoon now.
Lunch was houmus on crackerbreads and dinner will be some yummy tomato pasta with HM bread and salad. DH has requested that so he can still manage to go to the gym - we'll see.
Went to a TK Maxx near us this morning to see if they had baskets that I could use for my Christmas hampers so I now have an idea or two. I also made use of 'my' time by putting several things on ebay (kids thick winter coats etc from last year).
Right, off for a coffee and a cuddle with the kids on sofa.
    Have a spooky day.

    Hi everyone!
Thought I might go for the Halloween colour combo today!!
Very pleased to report that one small moggie who in 5 weeks has cost us a small fortune is back home and what a huge welcome we had. Very unfeline like...our old one would have turned her back and sulked!!
ON the OS front I'm currently munching on a bogey bun and I brought in HM pumpkin shaped cookies for my work colleagues. Being of a very sad disposition I hid a huge plastic spider in the box to surprise them. Well I thought it was hilarious..perhaps I'm spending too much time in the company of 8 year olds!!! There's an absolutely delicious recipe for Thai pumpkin soup on the BBC site today.
on the OS front we've just had a water meter fitted so am inventing all sorts of extra ways of saving money. Have cleaned the bathroom today and done a general tidy round. Think I may have some bits and pieces to do tonight to help OH with his business.
A very Happy Samhain to all who celebrate!
