Happy Birthday Penelope Penguin
Special hello to jellycat40
And hello all before and all who will follow.
Off to w@#; in a mo.
Brother coming round tonight and his fave thing on a friday (he was staying with us for a fewmonths at the beginning of the year) is to go to ASDA with DH and buy pizza and wine. I think they treat it as a bit of a trip out, wandering round the aisles inspecting the electronics and coming back to tell me about the bargains they've spotted.:rotfl: . Clearly not the same as getting the weekly shop in with a 4yo and an almost 2yo stuffed in a trolley trying to get you to buy anything and everything.
Used the BM last night (haven't done for a couple of weeks) and I halved the sugar in the recipe. Fantastic:T . Usually the bread rises and then sinks again so we have a dip at the top. Not this time, beautifully risen and golden and far too delicious since 1/2 of it has gone already. Have to try again and make sure it wasn't just a fluke.
Take care everyone.;)"You can't get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me." - C.S. Lewis0 -

:hello: Goooooood Morning, fellow OS'ers
Nice to see some fresh faces :hello:
:bdaycake: Birthday Greetings to you, Pen Pen:bdaycake:
Today begins one of the longest Half Terms  Not only is today a 'baker day' but also the Mon & Tue after next week - 8 fully school days in total!
I have an appointment this afternoon so the lads will either have to endure the waiting room, or toddle off to the library.
Still not happy with the hm ornaments I've been making, but tried playing last night and I think, *think* they may now be ready - they need to be, they've got to cross the Atlantic! Going to pop to the haberdashry shop later and see if he has any end of rolls going [STRIKE]cheap[/STRIKE] for a song so I can get on with a couple of Quillows I need for Christmas gifting. Design isn't important, but the colours are.
Going to have another go at using carrier bags on the peg loom, think I may have been doing it "wrong" last time and because I'm a very impatient person who likes to see speedy results for my endeavours, it shouldn't take long before I know if I've made another mistake with the bags idea
Snowy - if you can't find carpet that will do the trick and you don't especially want laminate - couldn't you invest in a large area run instead? In my childhood home, carpet which extented across the width of a stair was very unusual and we had a narrower strip of carpet in the centre of the stair and the bare wood either side was gloss painted. Just wondering if you might consider a similar idea seeing as you are feeling uninspired by the choices available in carpets. Area rugs definately come in more colours/designs/choices. Could also work out more frugalGood luck with your continuing search.
JackieO - yes it's definately porridge weather today  Good luck with referee-ing and have a fun time at College, especially the History
Amanda - is now the time to get garlic bulbs in too? I'm sure it's supposed to be around now, but I haven't (yet), so any confirmation or slapped wrist would be appreciated to keep me on the straight and narrow
Catz - hope your abcess is a little easier to bare, only 24hrs before you get to see the Dentist ((hugs))
Pink - hope you got your lie in.
Sending get well vibes to all those who are feeling less than 100%
Have a fun Friday, everyone - I know mine's going to be with the lads off school (I lurve school holidays :j :j )~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Good Morning all.
Gotta be quick today, slept late which is a first for a while. I knew I needed it as I have had my head, shoulders, both hands and feet to the grindstone!
Well today looks a little easier (famous last words?)
Still living from the freezer and the veg box, today I'm going to put some Octopus in the SC, it's so good cooked that way and I'm really looking forward to dinner. I saved the water from the cabbage last night and will add a stock cube to that. Why don't lot's more people eat Octopus?
Lunch will be HM bread - with something on top/inside and I'm still thinking about what to eat now - porridge I think - see you later all.0 -
Morning all
Happy Birthday Pen Pen :bdaycake: Hope you have a great day.
Queenie - you've struck lucky there with the half term - wish mine were off that long. Good luck with finding some fabric for your quillows, I've had another kingsize duvet donated to me - I will get it cut and hemmed, washed and dried and made up as soon as I have the space to get the machine out.....we love snuggling up with ours in the winter (we all have one each) and think my parents would benefit from them too.
Catowen - We did paper plates the other day - lots of paint splashed on, a handfull of glitter while the paint was still wet and next week we're going to stick on some funky foam letters and put on some string to make name plates for their bedroom doors.....Have fun with your lot today.
Feeling quite motivated this morning, kitchen's had a good go round, all the work tops are gleaming, cooker top is all polished up and I'm just waiting for the WM to finish so that I can get the last load done and wash the floor.
The I'll get the beds made (they're airing) and have a good clean of the bathroom. Then it's packing for the weekend, DD's are off to my parents for 3 days whilst I go away with DH, he's off "ooop north" to do some work so I'm taking advantage of the paid for hotel and generous food allowance he has, will get me away from the builders for a while too.
Mt. Fuji (the ironing pile) will need to be demolished first though as everything I want to take, is typically at the bottom of the pile!
Brekkie - fruit and cereal
Lunch - wraps/rolls
Dinner - HM pizza and chips

I bought a teeny tin of octopus and another of squid in it's own ink from the shops the other week so that everyone could try a morsel - far more economical then buying a quantity, cooking it and then having it go to waste. I already knew how it tasted, but the boys had never had it before. They were pleasantly surprised :T
What herbs/seasonings are you putting in with it? Veggies? Share your recipe, I'd love to have some more ideas on how to cook/serve itTIA.

Morning All
Happy Birthday Pen Pen
Hug to anybody in pain or just needs them.
Had a fab day yesterday. Went to Tesco with DD and found a lovely red dress and cardi for DD to wear at Xmas. £20 for the 2 which I thought was resonable especially when I used £15 worth of voucher on my shop. My hair has turned out lovely as well which is great, SIL is still learning so occasionally it doesnt turn out quite as you think it will.
Today its a quick wizz round and preparing dinner and then this afternoon we are off to toddler group, looking forward to that but I think I'll go in the car today as its peeing down.
Have a good day everyoneSorting my life out one day at a time0 -
Morning all :j
Happy Birthday Pen Pen :bdaycake:
At work again, yipee I've got next week off :j (except Thursday as I've got to go in and pay everyone  )
This morning was a rush - only just made it in time, so not feeling very organised today  We didn't have the fajitas last night so we're having them for tea tonight instead.
Hope everyone has a great Friday (((((hugs)))))Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)0 -
Good morning everyone.
Okay, I feel better than yesterday so I'm going to try to 'get stuff done'.
Plans are to get my scan at the hospital and check all is going well with the baby, then we're going into town to buy pants for my toddler. He's finally showing an interest in the potty and I want to strike while the iron's hot. I also want some time to myself to do some Christmas bargain hunting.
That should pretty much exhaust me so not much else to do I expect, except try to assemble the wardrobe a friend gave us the other day (with the help of DH) make the dinner (gnocchi and mushrooms in a light cheese sauce) and sweep the downstairs floors.
Have a good day everyone.
Many congratulations, Michelle!May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0
