New Halifax ISA 2.8%-3.0%

Has anyone succesffully transferred an ISA on line by saying "no" to the question about contributing to an existing ISA, when they have contributed?
What do people suggest in this circumstance?
Branch, phone or on-line (with white-lie).
My experiences of going to a branch are not great.
Long queues, some staff don't know what to do and even told to make an appointment etc.0 -
jut done it over the phone..took 5 mins, interest 3% :money:rate applicable immediately. good stuff!0

Thanks everyone.
I did ring again, but this time I chose the option of 'new business' instead of 'do you have a query about an existing account'.
Got a MUCH more sensible bloke who straight away said it could be done, albeit that it had to be transferred into the old Direct Isa (0.5% I think), but only for a day, before then going into the new Isa Direct Reward 3 at 2.8% plus extra 0.2% for holding a reward current account with them.
I was loath to lose this guy, so I then put my husband on, followed by my son,who all successfully redesignated their old Isa to the new one.
We did all have to put up with him going through all the options of their fixed rate Isa's and Ultimate Reward current accounts etc etc, all of which I am fully aware of. I guess being the New Business department, they are obliged to sell you as much as possible.
Anyway, all done now, and I reckon it will give us somthing like an extra £150 or so in interest for the rest of the year.
God I love this forum, and it just shows, never believe what they tell you at these call centres without double checking. I'm well chuffed at getting 3% now.
Thanks everyone for posting.0 -
Thanks very much opinions4u and rb10 for the advice above.
This morning one of our three ISAs has switched from ISA Saver Direct to ISA Direct Reward 3 online. Fingers crossed the other two will follow suit in the next couple of days.
We've all had some paperwork through this morning too. No mention anywhere of ISA Direct Reward 3, just ISA Saver and of course, no mention of the 3% rate.
I've found HBOS particularly poor for sending out nonsense computer-generated type letters in the past, so if the other two ISAs switch to ISA Direct Reward 3 online shortly, then I'll print off copies and assume I have sufficient evidence to mount a complaint come April!0 -

I've just re-read this. Hopefully that's just all that's happening with our paperwork showing ISA Saver.
Isn't it all incredibly labour intensive, both for them and for us?!0 -
Sounds like a technology fudge to work round HBOS systems to me.tipsychick wrote: »I've just re-read this. Hopefully that's just all that's happening with our paperwork showing ISA Saver.

They won't want to build anything new because they're killing the HBOS platform off next year.0 -
Does that mean that from next year if I have accounts with Lloyds TSB as well, the amount covered by FSCS protection will be halved?0

Only if they decide to operate all Lloyds Banking Group brands under one licence.
I have not seen anything at all to suggest that they have plans to do this.0 -
I've tried to open an account this evening online and a message appears that this is no longer available.
Have they pulled this already ?0 -
I'm not getting that message.0
