The information came about someone who was undischarged and was given £500 cash for her birthday and she didn't have a savings account, didn't dare put it into the account the OR had access to. The reply was to put it into her prepaid card. Further info was that if she had gone out and spent the money on a new coat, new boots, a handbag and some perfume, nobody would ever have known about the money in the first place.
Hope this helps!
Ive just got one of them cards, splash plastic. It doesnt have chip and pin tho... whats the score with that ? anyone know ?
What a great idea they are though....0 -

Mine doesnt !!! Mine is with 360 money.. no chip and No pin ! I might have to change...0 -
How much do they charge you for that?
I use Cashplus https://www.mycashplus.co.uk
It is operated with a Mastercard number and is chip & pin.
It costs £9.95 for the card, then £4.95 per month, or you can switch to £1 per transaction.
I have had mine for two months now and it is fantastic!0 -
Mike I went to have a look at the website and it says that your card IS chip & pin!
The charges are cheaper than Cashplus.
Your maximum card balance is £3500 and mine is £5000
You need to check up on why you don't appear to have chip & pin, because you do!0 -

Ah I see, you have a different card!
The £4.95 per month is a lot less money than having to pay interest charges!
However, I may switch - I will see!0 -

I just had a look at the splash one mike (i too like the pink) but ... there is a fee for loading your money at the post office where cashplusone is free.
Just something else to take into consideration for people.
Pity MSE don't have comparison site about these prepaid cards as they seem to be popping up all over now. There was an offer for one in one of the sunday papers last week (they were paying the start up fee) and ive seen prepaid vouchers for visa. but no where to compare them all together.

I see the fee is £3 per £100 deposited! That is steep!
I will stick to my Cashplus!
There is somewhere to compare them -

the Splash card must to too new to be on this comparison, though!0
