This may sound like a silly question, but how do we get our creditors to stop contacting us after we have been made bankrupt?
I have been telling anyone who phones, but this does not stop MERCERS (Barclaycard) who have phoned probably 6 times since I told them.
Mackenzie Hall (Bless em) have responded by sending a 'Full and Final Settlement Offer' for a disputed debt with Black Horse.
I know that these DCAs never believe a word we tell them, but surely even they must accept that it is hard to lie about being made bankrupt.
So does anyone know of a 'Template Letter' that I could send?I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Rog2 have you sent them a photocopy of your bankruptcy order?
I think that is supposed to help.
I have had 27 calls this morning - between 8.30am and 11.30am.
If this continues after I have done the deed then I am going to use some very choice language with them!
If the OR hasn't been in touch with your creditors then that could be why they are continuing?0 -

Thanks Sandra,
27 calls on a SUNDAY morning is pure harrassment:mad: I think I would use the choice language now:rolleyes:I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.

I sent them all a letter, pointing out the legal issues of harrassment etc, nearly three weeks ago. I did answer the phone the first week and quoted the law at them.
I will report them to the OFT, since this harrassment is illegal.
My calls are Amex, MBNA, GEMoney and Capital One. I only owe Capital One about £320 - they have wasted more money in phone calls! They probably get paid for the number of times they call someone?
Choice language is what they are going to get next - today!0 -

Are you not being pestered by phone calls?
I don't want to change my number, really, I want to keep it if I can!0 -

Any idea how my mobile phone contract would be affected by bankruptcy?
Also, if the OR freezes the bank account, if a DD is due to go out, does this then get denied by the bank?0 -

Did you not get a Basic Account when you went for your IVA?
In bankruptcy the OR doesn't usually freeze basic accounts
Your mobile phone contract should be okay, as long is it is not on an extortionately high monthly payment.0
