My Mother is nearly 74. All I have to hope for is that she doesn't pop her clogs whilst I am undischarged - otherwise the OR will be claiming all her cash and the house that I live in!!

No... Take it in.. The judge does not do anything except make you bankrupt.

The OR is the one who deals with you, they are normal working people. They do not inform your employer unless you have an income payments order, you fail to pay it a couple of times and dont co-operate.. now what is the chance of that.

    Hi Mike,

Congratulations at getting the deed done, we've been decorating a house and moving over the last couple of weeks so not had chance to get on line. We recently had a letter from the OR informing us that I would have a zero tax code until the end of this financial year so employer's do get to know in a roundabout way.

"Fantastic" I thought, three months tax back and no tax to pay until the next financial year; think I'll treat my O.H to a well deserved weeks holiday somewhere warm and sunny. No chance, from what I understand the OR will want to get his/her hands on that. :-(

    Regards

    Rich
  • Hi Mike,

I don't want to pick holes in this or anything but I am a little surprised at some of the expenditure. I am assuming this is for one person?

Do they allow for Dry Cleaning?

Re prescriptions - if this is for one person, you would better off paying for the yearly card, which is currently £95.xx and would save you money.

My DMC said you could only claim £20 per month for clothing/footwear

My DMC said I cannot claim for Christmas/b'days/holidays

    Just my thoughts!

Also the DMC's are very very harsh oin expenditure, The OR is more reasonable and realises that you have to start a fresh and what is the point in struggling again and then possibly getting into more debt...

I may have my eye wiped.. But im gonna go for what ive been advised .

I've just been on the myvesta chat forum and there is one guy there being a bit snooty about all this making it sound as if my figures are VERY inflated. Making it sound as if you are not entitled to a life in an IVA. Even suggested that the TV is not an essential item. Well, if you cant go out or hdo anything else, the TV must be considered as essential I would have thought otherwise you would go slightly mad!!

Myvesta are a pain in the neck. Some of the replies to the questions are way off the mark.
They don't like anyone going br - and why? - because Myvesta takes money from folks going to IVA, not br.
  • The judge wont ask. Its not his job.

He will simply ask if you know what you are doing, ask if you have had professional advice and who from, ask you name and employment .. thats all... No ins and outs.

Ah but , by the time you see the OR you have already been declared bankrupt!!!

Yeah... Theyll want the tax off you....

You can have an NT tax code though for many reasons. If I get pulled into HR about it, Our bankruptcy actually states the business details and the fact that it went bust with trading details.. Ill let them know its all to do with tax etc etc....

sounds nice someone getting on with normal stuff, moving on from debt! I think when you in debt (prob when you proceeding with BR) it seems all life and time consuming it the only thing you can think of and every thing else is going through the motions. (or that the way it feels at mo) and it seems strange getting on with tiling the kitchen! hope it looks nice!

It is a bit surreal... But a new life has started and I must get on with it. Cant be dwelling on it all... After all.. Life is still normal after B.

They have a very good video section though that answers a lot about bankruptcy.
