I think you should definately go and then come back here and tell us all about it - we will all want to know which shade of green his or her face goes when you get started on them :rotfl::cool: Official DFW Nerd Club Member #37 Debt free Feb 07 :cool:0

But they charge me for my overdraft and I don't have any savings!I think the cashier is on comission for getting people in. She looked new. Not seen her before and ordered a paying in book and she didn't really know what she was doing.
I take if she doesn't really get commission for getting people in - nothing suprises me with banks!- was she training?I reckon she was flirting with me though! She phoned me later in the day to tell me she had ordered it for me!

I can only speak for the bank I work for & no, we are not on commission, just frightened for our jobs as we are put on report if we don't get so many 'review' appointments booked in - the area manager wants us reporting in every other hour at the moment & is transferring people left right & centre to other branches as he feels a new place will give us the verve to sell more, they just don't seem to get it that some people are savvy & see the crap products a mile off - spending most nights with a bottle of wine & most mornings in tears0 -

Really? Thats terrible!
My Natwest have got a questionnaire about their branch at the moment. I'm tempted to fill it in saying how dissatisfied I am at having sale techniques forced upon me when simply paying a cheque in!
It might help!
The woman did look really uncomfortable asking me but I think that was just because she fancied me!:rotfl:

please do - when we tell the mangement that the customers don't like it when we approach them at the counter, they just say that our dialogue technique is wrong & we need extra coaching in selling0 -

You'll end up moving away from banking and going more into a sales job at this rate!
And you're right, consumers ARE getting more savvier (it's my influence!) due to sites like this and television reports/programmes...........so why do banks still dumb their customers down???Honorary Northern Bird bestowed by AnselmI'm a Board Guide and volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly on Special Occasions, Green/Ethical, Motoring/Overseas/UK Travel & Flood boards, it's not part of my role to deal with reportable posts. I also used to work for NatWest as a Customer Adviser and it was the worst time of my life. I came home regularly crying - I cried for about four hours once. I used to leave on a Friday and panic about going back on Monday. I was constantly afraid of being sacked (new job - on probation). The manager had absolutely no ethics or morals. He even came in to my interview room once and said "I understand that you are a highly moraled person, but....". Sorry, but I don't see persuading a retired couple to tale out a £25K loan (to pay back their sons borrowing) as ethical. I too miss-sold PPI because I was terrified of walking back to the main office and saying "I didn't get it". We would be routinely humiliated in morning meetings if we weren't hitting target, had to work to eight at night doing telesales, even when we were hitting targets just to get one over on another branch, never took lunch. It was without a doubt the worst job I have ever had.
My advice to anyone stuck in that situation is to get out - life is too short to dread each day.
As for “Financial Review” - They have either spotted you have debs, by looking through reports which detail every payment to go out of every account held at their branch, or want to find a way to give you debts. They don’t give a stuff about how much you spend on books or petrol (lifestyle section of the review) - they are trying to sell you something; be it an crappy account upgrade, Credit Card, savings, whatever. As for saying they are not on commission - that is true. But every sale has a point score attached to it £25k loans with PPI are worth 590 points, C/C without PPI are 30, etc. The bonus structure is linked to the points. If the branch hits target of, say 10,000 points per week, averaging the quarter - the staff get their bonus.
Oh and the counter staff don't have a problem with their computer being slow - they are looking through your Direct Debits.
I could go on and on, Oh how I hate NatWest.Total Debt November 2016 =£9,660.52
Monthly Repayments = £593.09
Goal to be debt free December 2017/ Savings £500 :T0 -
Several members of our extended family worked in banking.
The younger generation ones who started out as counter staff - they've left.
The older generation ones higher up the ladder leapt at the chance of voluntary redundancy. The one member left can't stand it anymore and took early retirement this month. Says it all really.
And this "ooh we're re-opening village/small town branches so our customers can access us easily" is spin for "we're out to see you and sell you up the river"!
SS - you should go and do a good wind up job and report back on here!Back on the DFW Wagon:
CC - £3,300 on 0% til 04/2020
CC - £4,500 on 0% til 02/2019
Loan - £12,063.84 as at 4/1/180
