I'm having on next weekend, from A + L, not even used the account yet, but I figured I may as well go and get them to fill all my overdraught forms and get stuff transferred. I ain't takin ANY loan / Additions style account off them though. That lesson has been well and truely learnt.

Especially as Barclays (aka money thieves are us ;) ) just put up the additions premium by £1.50!

  • The cashier was trying to 'sell' me a free review to see if they could do anything to help me. In other words I reckon they mean a loan!
go there if you think it's worth you while- listen to what they have to say and then take the stuff home and have a good hard think about it. be aware lots of financial institutions are tied and try to sell you products from specific providers. you seem to know how to avoid the pitfalls- sometimes financial institutions do actually save people money (e.g. savings account where better rate of interest- lots of people open account, forget about and find account is paying a pittence in interest- rates change all the time). if it will cost in petrol ask for an interview over phone- could be opportunity to extend overdraft etc- make sure bank calls you and pays for call!

But they charge me for my overdraft and I don't have any savings! ;) :rotfl:

I think the cashier is on comission for getting people in. She looked new. Not seen her before and ordered a paying in book and she didn't really know what she was doing. I reckon she was flirting with me though! She phoned me later in the day to tell me she had ordered it for me! :p :rotfl:

they are just a hard sell pitch....
we went recently because our mortgage deal was due to expire....
they tried to sell us mortgage protection, life insurance, car insurance, house insurance, ISA's.....and then told me overpaying my mortgage wasnt a good thing...I should save the money in one of their savings accounts.

    edit...just remembered...offered me a credit card!!!

I had mister dogrose well warned before we went in....all we want is a mortgage deal with daily interest and no penalty for overpayments...
