Should I Have A Financial Review With My Bank Manager?

My aunt, similarly, ended up taking early retirement after her little savings bank where she'd worked since leaving school was taken over by one of the bigger banks. Within a few months, she was suffering from dreadful stress and anxiety at the pressure-selling tactics that were forced on her, and the pressure that the staff were put under to meet selling targets. She was sent on a residential course at one stage to 'improve her thinking', which sounded very Chairman Mao.Debt at highest: £6,290.72 (14.2.1999)

it's funny how things have changed. I remember my first loan for a car. I had to meet the manager and explain why I wanted the loan and how I was going to pay it back...I took my dad to back me up!!! To get our first mortgage we had to be saving with the building society first before we would be considered...
now everyone is offering us money..like someone said before a visit to the bank has turned in to an unpleasant experience saying no to offers of cash or insurance.x x x0 -
No one needs to go into a bank counter these days - or at least, not very often. I do all my banking on-line, and any cheques to pay in can be posted or put in a special box and cash withdrawn from ATM outside. I haven't actually spoken to a bank clerk for years.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0

It would help people to see through the tactics and stick to their guns, so they can come out with what they want and not what the bank wants them to have!!Honorary Northern Bird bestowed by AnselmI'm a Board Guide and volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly on Special Occasions, Green/Ethical, Motoring/Overseas/UK Travel & Flood boards, it's not part of my role to deal with reportable posts. Had an idea...wouldn't it be good if SS could have a secret cam and Martin could use it for a programme?
I remember reading a post where Martin said "tell the tv companies that" about having a regular slot. Who do we tell? There are so many of us on here, and what with banks/charges being a hot media topic, I reckon we could make them sit up, take notice and do something!

It is a pain in the butt trying to pay in cheques.I get``do you have any plans for this money`` because they want to sell me one of their poxy products.I got bombarded when I tried to pay in a cheque for £30k.It was my money and in the end a kind man from HSBC put £28k in an investment.I had to wait nearly 5 years before I got the initial amount back because the product bombed.Glad to say that I am more savvy now and chose my own investments.0

Oh dear,
Before my MSE/DFW days I rarely went in to my bank, basically because my OD was so big the bank clerks always always always tried get me in for a review, notes would always pop up on my account about assistant managers wanting to see me
One day at my lowest I got sucked in and signed up for a NatWest Advantage Gold Account along with a consolidation loan and I still have it !
£12 a month - Why ? Is it easy to cancel ? Bearing in mind I still have the rotten stinking loan. The man who removes a mountain begins by carrying away small stones. - Chinese Proverb
