astonsmummy wrote:Hi all,
What a great thread!:j :T I am up for joining - my doctor phoned me the other evening to tell me to stop takin the pill and he's prescribed me another one because i'm too fat:o
I weigh about 14 stone and am 5' and half an inch!
I have always been big but never this big, i weigh more now than i did when i was 8 moths pregnant (never got to 9) I was fortunate to only put on 3lb throughout my whole pregnancy but have put on 2 stone since DS was born - Jun/04.
I am so determined to loose a few stone before next summer, all togther i want to loose 5 stone, but i know it will take a long time. In the past i have never stuck to diets as i just get moody about not being able to eat nice things!:o
I even resorted to using speed to loose weight this worked but as soon as i stopped the weight came back on!
My bf is quite healthy - wont eat white bread, loves fruit etc and he said he'll support me 100%
I went to weightwatchers once but it wasnt for me - i'm quite a paranoid person and couldnt do with people looking at me, but i got a book and journal and couple of other bits and dug them out this morning.
So i'll see how i go with this one, it;s good coz i can eat alot of stuff that tastes nice, just need to find some more recipies.
I cook everything from scratch anyway but jst need some WW ideas, so will take a peek at the site in a bit!
I dont own a pair of scales, so might go and invest in some today or tommorrow - any recomendations?
Oh and if anyone has any WW recepies can u let me know them or where i can get them from (free!)
Anyways, i'm going to do my first weigh in on monday.

:hello: Good morning all. I've only managed to loose 1 lb this week but I think the ice cold tinny or 2/3/4 followed by the plate of chips, bread and butter and the 2 fried eggs etc. on Saturday night has a lot to do with that!! Reminder to self - do not indulge in alcohol when knackered.
Well done everyone for their weigh-ins and honesty today, on the plus side we are all at least eating more healthily. I had weeks where I thought I had done really well when I was with WW and I'd have gained a pound or two - very frustrating! and the Leader would point out several possible reasons.
With us ladies if it's the week before our period some of us are prone to holding water.
Portion control - my failing if being honest, I was eating very healthily just way too much of it - cut back on the protein and carbs and fill up on plenty of fruit and veg.;)
Not eating enough, believe it or not - as the body goes in to 'starvation mode'.
Drinking plenty of water is also a must as our bodies can confuse thirst with hunger. A tip from her that I found very good was to drink a large glass of water before every meal as that helped to fill me up.
Anyway enough of me rambling, I hope the above has been of help to someone. Onwards and upwards everybody. If you are patient in one moment of anger, you will escape 100 days of sorrow.......Chinese proverb

:hello: Hi Everyone,
Thanks for all the helpful advice on this thread. It has really helped to know that I'm not alone in falling off the wagon and losing the plot when it comes to my weight control. I was o.k. until saturday but once I'd eaten two biscuits (to be polite LOL) I was lost for the rest of the day.
I've lost 1lb. this week:j and want to try to do better over the next week. I've started as a I mean to go on by walking and not using the car when I don'tneed to and I've dug out my exercise DVD.
Good luck to everyone.

Hi there
I just thought I would report in and tell you that I've managed to lose 2lbs this week so I'm feeling quite positive. (2lbs down 2 stone to go.)
My target for last week was to walk up and down the four flights of steps at work - I managed to keep to that even with, sometimes, a heavy bag.
My target for this week is to have 5 portions of fruit & veg a day. Can I ask a daft question - is it 5 different lots of fruit & veg e.g if I eat two bananas during the day would I count it as one portion or two of the five, also if I put veg into shepherd's pie would that count as one portion? (Can you tell I'm not a big fruit & veg nut but know that I should increase my intake.)
Kind regards0 -
Hi there and well done on the weight loss. 2 bananas would be 2 portions of your fruit and veg. As to the cottage pie, it would really depend on how much veg you put in. If there is plenty I myself would probably count it as one, if not I would probably go for a half portion. If you are patient in one moment of anger, you will escape 100 days of sorrow.......Chinese proverb

Hi All,
Well done to everyone who is trying their hardest. Having all this support certainly helps. Despite my OH's best efforts to sabotage my weightloss by having his birthday, which entailed a slap up lunch and cake, I've still somehow managed to lose 3lb! I think it was all the worry about said slap up lunch that did it.
Targets for the next week:
eat more fruit and veg
cut down on carbs/protein
use a smaller plateOne day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing
Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home0 -

I'm craving hard cheese and chips. Also got my once a month chocolate craving and that one is very hard at the moment but that will pass. Whent to town today and passed my favourite bakers and they do the most glorious cornish pasty - I walked passed it twice, lol the second time I was going to in but didn't in the end.
Does any one else find that once they have something they really shouldn't that's it for the day, diet knackered. If you are patient in one moment of anger, you will escape 100 days of sorrow.......Chinese proverb

Absolutely!! used to end up thinking have eaten 1 item i should not have, wasted day why not just indulge today. However now will try to change this to I've enjoyed 1 item so I'll burn some extra calories or eat a little less over the next few days - because it's worth it!!!TH0
