  • My friend got told she was having a girl, spent loads on pink clothing, had a name chosen and then out popped a little boy. To say she was in shock was an understatement.
  • I heard that if you were told it's a boy it's 95% accurate but if you are told it's a girl it's only 75%. I assume this is because they can't see his boy bits so they assume it's a girl??

We were pointed towards the screen and told that the hospital will not tell you for definate, but this looks like boy bits, but we don't guarantee anything.

It happened to me i was told i was having a girl but i had a boy.
  • I think that you should always be grateful for a healthy child. I can't understand people wanting to sue for being told the wrong gender at a scan - unless they were having it for medical reasons i.e. a gender specific genetic condition that their unborn child might have.

Back in the day when I had my eldest children they didn't tell you the sex and I was absolutely stunned when I had a girl after two boys. After this I was convinced that my fourth was a girl - it wasn't. I was told at my 20 week scan that number five was a boy and with number six because of my age I paid privately to have a nt scan (local hospital didn't do them) to be told I was having a girl at 11+ weeks which was confirmed by a CV test at 14 weeks.

I'm glad that I've experienced both the surprise and the knowing what I was having. If I was starting over I think I would still like my first baby's sex to be a surprise.

I was told throughout one of my 9month baby bumps that I was having a little girl admittedly this wasn't done by scan but my midwife kept commenting on the heartbeat being fast.I have no idea if a girls heartbeat is faster than a boys .Now having already had 3 boys I was so so happy to be having a little pinky finally, went and kitted "her" out in pink pink and more pink ,decorated the little room into a pink nursery.Well I went into labour on my due date and 57 mins late i delivered a boy:eek:.The poor little lad was born with a hole in the heart and that was why his heart beat was so much faster. He had the op to close the hole at 7 month and all is well now.:j:j:j.Went on to have my little girl a year later :D

  • I asked the sex of my first baby prior to my 20 week scan (I'm sure I was only about 13 weeks pregnant) - the sonographer said it looked like a little boy and she turned out to be right.

With DD I had a private scan for nuchal fold (you had to pay privately 7 years ago if you wanted anything other than the BARTS test screening wise)
I must have been very early on then and again I asked if he could see and he mentioned the 3 lines and said that he thought a girl (he was right)

We didn't tell anybody else that we knew the sex and I certainly wouldn't have thought about sueing anybody - it was made quite clear to us that it wasn't 100% accurate.
