Has anyone been told the wrong gender at 20 week scan?

I was told I was having a boy and out popped a girl:) I already had a DS so it was a nice suprise. Hadnt bought anything as already had boy stuff. Dont know why but had a feeling they were wrong, (it wasn't wishful thinking I was hoping for another boy). Took white babygrows in so was ok. Actully I still used up my DSs blue ones once I got home. This was 7 years ago and DD is a toy boy if that counts:)0

If I'm honest, I'll admit to wanting a girl (and being lucky enough to end up with one). However, I knew that I had a 50/50 chance of having a boy. So I dealt with it. And - without knowing what gender my baby would be - I had worked out my own issues about wanting a girl, and was delighted to finally meet the baby I had been waiting for all those months. The fact that she was a girl was a bonus.
This is why I felt I had to find out.......not for me, but for DD, (7) who despite protestations, I KNEW wanted a sister rather than bro......
Very glad I had my scan, as I am having a boy (6 weeks to go) and I would say it took her about a week to adjust her thoughts, and get excited again about having a sibling. She was quite withdrawn for a day or so after finding out, and I had the space and time to talk it through with her that I might not have done with a newborn.0 -
A girl I used to work with was told she was having a boy, she was very excited and went out and bought lots of boy clothes, painted the room with boy themed borders.....and then had a girl!! most of the clothes she'd bought were from Next, she took them all back and explained what had happened (luckily she'd left all the tags on). They wouldn't give her all her money back, saying the clothes had been bought from their Spring range, and was now August, but they did give her half of the money back.
She had her second child last year, who did turn out to be a boy, but she didn't ask what he was going to be at the scan.LHS No 2220 -
I'm going to ask to find out, but not going to get into a paddy if the sonographer is wrong. I think people who have sued because of this are sad, and have too much time on their hands!
It's a cliche, but a true one, I do not mind either way what I have as long as baby is happy and healthy.
To be honest I'd probably prefer a girl as would know what "to do" with a girl, but no bother either way0 -

I had a scan with my two youngest at 20 weeks and found out the sex - they were both correct when they came out
For my youngest we paid to find out (hospital wouldn't tell us for that one) and we had to sign a disclaimer to say that we understood it wasn't 100% guarantee. Luckily it was a girl cos we went out and bought EVERYTHING girly (but I did keep the receiopts):rotfl:Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. I've been told I'm having a boy and already had a feeling I was. However it did take her a while to work it out, which reassures me that it actually is - she came back to check about 4 or 5 times! Eventually we all decided together that it was a boy when she focused in on a little thing between his legs. Still a chance that was just the cord though
Decorating the nursery in yellow so it doesn't matter, and I haven't gone that crazy with boys clothes - spent £20 in Tesco/Primark on little t-shirts but everything else is neutral. My debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |

I think it's easier to mistake a girl for a boy, if the umbilical cord is lying in a particular place. The sonographers were right both times with me, but I certainly wouldn't have sued if they'd got it wrong...0

My mum was told she was having another boy...... she had twin girls
Mind you that was a few years ago now"Oh, you hate your job? Why didn't you say so? There's a support group for that. It's called EVERYBODY, and they meet at the bar.":beer:0
