Luton Airport ANPR 'fines'

Small piece in today's Sun (you have to read whatever is there when you are waiting for you curry take out!) that the operators of Luton Airport car parking are now 'fining' drivers £80 who they deem have been in the drop off area too long!

Nice earner as most who are waiting are actually in a huge queue.

I suspect this is a PPC, so ignore.

  • Madness.

You see the signage around 0:45 on this video.

I'm guessing this is just an APCOA civil scheme trying to look authentic? If so, I wonder why the motoring offense solictors advice is so wrong? Love to see a PPC go to court for a case like this.

At least the sign states its a private road!

I suspect the solicitor wasn't advised it was a private road so his "advice" was complete nonsense.
  • And if it was a public road, why would a private company be handing out 'tickets'?

    The guy's an idiot.
  • similar arrangement re the £1 charge at birmingham airport. not sure who manages it (meteor?) but almost certainly with a 'fine'. feel free to correct.

if you're dropping your friends off and up for a bit of sport the approach road is all double-yellows.if you can't be bothered but still in mse mood: follow signs to the rail station, park up for 20mins (free) put your friends up the escalator and onto the (free) maglev auto-train. 90 seconds to terminal 1.

    Thanks
  • Hi all,
I have received today 2 letters from Roxburghe debt collectors,
Re: Unpaid Parking Enforcement notice in Luton Airport

    Total amaunt Due: £121.12 each = £240 (!!!)

Contravention: 01 Stopping a vehicle in a NO stopping area

    Issue date: 16-09-10

It says that A Parking Enforcement Notice has been attached to my vehichle.

I have never seen any PPC attached to my car and never received any letters apart from these 2 which arrived 3 months after the issue date. It all is complete surprise for me.
They gave me 14 days to pay after that they will commence Court proceeding against me.

I don't know what to do? Should I just ignore as well?

Absolutely. Just ignore it and then ignore it some more.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com
  • Yes just ignore. Roxburghe are toothless muppets. Expect a couple of letters from Graham White "solicitors" [actually the same people as Roxburghe] then they will give up.
