Our thermostat is showing the house temp is 21 degrees. I don't think we have ever got to November without switching it on, but I have never really been worried about the cost in the past.0

i still have all the windows open during the day, my window is open all night still but i have been closing the kids windows not even leaving them on vent, heating has been on a couple of times in the morning as husband gets up very early every other week but other than that not really noticed any need for it yet so thats good for this pocket0

I`m waiting a few more weeks but I have changed the bedding and put a duvet on. It`s a down duvet so the temp is like body temp, I couldn`t cope with a synthetic one as I find them far too hot. Its a cotton duvet cover at the moment but I have the (qvc) flanelette ready for november.I have a tickly throat so felt the cold more yesterday, until I put a scarf around my neck and I sat with a fleecy throw around me last night. Dressing gown this morning is a warmer one too and I`ll wash my thin cotton one this week and put away for next spring
Temp in this room is already 18 and it isn`t 6.30 yet, anyway I`m having a drink of hot lemon as I think I`m fighting a lurgy.
Cotton sheets have been on the airer for two days and they feel ok now. I find drying big things a problem just now, unless the sun shines in and I think I`ll have to weather watch in advance to get really organised
I have to have two of all the sheets/duvets in order to cope with indoor drying as we have no outdoor facility0 -
The heating has not been on ion the inkie household yet - there is no need, since we had DG it's roasting in here. OH said last week - shall we try the CH just to make sure that it still works - I declined! If it carries on like this , I can see another month CH free - mind you it would only make up for the fact that we had to have it on unitl April 'cos of the appalling weather!0

Same here but I have had the chimney swept in preparation. I try to start by lighting the fire (free) in the evening until it gets really cold. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
No way do we have our heating on yet as we've been having an Indian Summer this month and it's still warm enough to have the windows open all day and one or two at night. DS sometimes complains in the evenings but he is wearing only a T-shirt with his jeans....so I tell him to go put a sweatshirt on if he's cold.
When our heating does eventually come on (whenever the real cold weather starts) it's always set to 17degrees on the wall thermostat. That's a reasonable temperature - the same as most of our summer days and there's always someone at home during the day (me usually). And it will go off during the night this year as fuel is so expensive.
I don't understand people who run up high heating bills simply so they can live in T-shirt and shorts in the house all year round  . Think of all the bugs (colds, flu etc) being able to breed indiscriminately in the nice warm, arid atmosphere  . Not to mention the physical shock when people have to go outside into the freezing weather!
I always feel the cold terribly and have a degree of Raynaud's Syndrome, but a vest, warm tops , socks and slippers (boots, scarf & gloves outside) all do their job to keep my body warm enough through most of the winter. My hands suffer the most, but there's not a lot more I can do about it. They can go white and numb on a summer's day too.

17degrees you must be freezing.
Have had the CH on for the odd hour hear & there over the summer as we like our comfort.
If I had storage heating I would leave it off as long as poss`as we would have to open all the windows duriing the day just to get the warmth at night.0
