Not on yet although little ds keeps asking for it to go on (but he walks around in his vest - bless) I have told the kids it will not go on until it is really cold and I have jumpers and hot water bottles ready for action. Also looking out for a nice thick curtain to go over our draughty back door. Still paying off last years heating.credit card balances March 2008 £5159.11Time to pick myself up and start again.0

mrs_baggins wrote:Not yet here which is amazing as I am the coldest person on the planet!! Luckily I am a lady 'of a certain age' and have just started getting hot flushes so am going to stand in the fireplace and volunteer my services as a boiler. This menopause thing might actually save me some fuel!!
This made me laugh. I might need your services soon as I'm attempting to keep the heating off for as long as possible. The 365 Day 1p Challenge 2025. Member #420 -

Like many of you, I am holding out a bit longer, maybe when the first frost hits the ground the heating will go on !!!. I have told the kids, this winter is the great money saving winter, if we get chilly, we will use hot water bottles and snuggle up under a duvet on the sofa, luckily neither of them feel the cold anyway and they love it when we are all snuggled up together, a great bonding time especially if there have been cross words during the day. I have got an electric fire in the lounge, that will go on before I turn the storage heaters on. My parents user to have a Super Ser portable gas heater, can you still get them ?"Dogs come when they are called. Cats take a message and get back to you" :j :j0

We lasted til January last year, at which point I realised I was being a stingy basta, the flat was freezing, but nice and warm in bed.
This year I think I'm gonna try and get away with heating the whole place with 1 storage heater. We're top floor though, so hopefully we'll be able to gain from people underneath us!0 -
Hi , I have my heating on about 1 hour every night at the moment. I will wait until its' really cold before putting the timer on.However I will try and limit this as well as the cost of gas is a disgrace. I have just ordered a new electric fire suite so we will probably use this in the lounge and not bother putting the central heating on some nights. Hot water bottles do come in handy as well. I liked the comments on the hot flusher , mrs baggins:rotfl: certainly sounds like " hot stuff "0

Never seen a heated suit, except perhaps the sort motorcylists wear. Makes sense to heat only yourself.
After all tis just a fitted electric blanket.0 -

hey! a possible money earner! renting myself out as a boiler. great!0 -
It's still far to hot to put heating on up here. (East Yorks)
I figure that when I have to put a long sleeved shirt on I may have to put on a warmer duvet.
My heating is set for 16oC so there is not much chance of it turning itself on yet anyway.
I think that when i have to put a jacket on to bike to work may be the time to test the system and see if it all works. It's a shame DW is coldblooded but she has been under blankets all the way through summer so we take no notie of her. LOL“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0
