We've had it on for an hour or two here and there but we've not got to the point yet where we feel we have to have it on constantly which is pretty good going up here in sunny Scotland with the winters we're used to ;)

We have not had any heating on
but I am curious to see how long this
will last because during the summer
they did the cavity wall insulation
on our building. So it will be intersting
to see what differnce it will make
  • Still not got ours on either and not intending to for a bit. We managed till Nov last year and want to do the same again. Been knitting jumpers, making draught excluders and stock piling warming soups in freezer during summer months. Intend to do battle this winter!

Someone please keep me company and keep theirs off till then.... don't want to be the only one with a blue nose, puffing cold air whilst wrapped in my blankie. :o

  • Best to turn it on now just to test it works properly. You don't want it to fail when it is freezing cold, as it could take a while to get someone out to fix it. My wife thinks I am mad, as I test it for 10 mins in the summer as this really tests the system to its limits.
  • Not yet here which is amazing as I am the coldest person on the planet!! Luckily I am a lady 'of a certain age' and have just started getting hot flushes so am going to stand in the fireplace and volunteer my services as a boiler. This menopause thing might actually save me some fuel!!

i havent put ours on yet. spent a fortune on gas last year as its a card meter...:( so this year ive turned the thermastast down, and we will all wear jumpers till it gets really cold! im investing in oil filled radiators for heating at that time as the electric seems to be less than the gas. so we will see how we go! :)

Gonna try for November lst here in Norfolk.
Just getting the electric blanket set up for 9pm preheat for 2hrs then again for early E7 2 hours
Central heating, tho not til lst November.Might have to test the pump before that , if you know what I mean.
  • I,ve had mine on low for a while now and although i,ve got cavity wall insulation and double glazing temp just stays around the 70f mark and dont think its healthy any lower than that,or much above it when it really gets cold

Don't be silly. We haven't even got the duvet out yet....never mind putting the heating on.

Not on here yet, and planning to keep it off as long as is humanly possible! Luckily, as I work from home there's only me and the dog in the house during the day and we are both hot blooded , so I plan to not have the heating on in the day until I can stand it no longer! Of course, it will have to go on about an hour before SWMBO (another candidate for neshIst person on the planet!) gets home, so our little plan (me and the dog's!) goes unnoticed until the bills come in...
I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!
