Hello my lovely I am so sorry to hear you are feeling this way and second what others say about second opinions and support groups.

You could never look like a monster but I understand how you would feel that way.

I have a 12ins by 1ins scar down my abdomen from cervical cancer surgery 16 years ago and it makes me hate my body so much. Luckily for me, it can be hidden with clothes but I rarely undress in front of anyone other than DD.

You are such a kind thoughtful person, your goodness must shine from within and no amount of body shape could alter that.

Lots of hugs and well wishes, hope you get things sorted soon

Granny and Piq we are imperfectly perfect. :)

I had an MRI today so I think the actual surgery will be the week of the 23 October so you all have to put up with me until then.

Haven't been doing too much debt busting this week cause kind of in a funk.

also 2 train tix at 7.70 a piece is an unexpected spend :(

My work laptop has a virus so have to go into the office for a reimage tomorrow which is a 4 hour ordeal and my BB packed up with the white screen of death. (that has been a blessing and a curse!) SO I am waiting for work to give me a new one.

Off to America on my work trip on Saturday. I won an award at work about 3 months ago and they sent me a V*sa giftcard in USD to my mom's so I will use that for incidentals. I don't know how to make it cash to pay off bills so maybe I will buy some little christmas pressies as things are cheaper in America.

I will try to spoil myself but actually there is nothing I need.

Off to the office to get my computer reimaged so I can get rid of the virus etc.

That's 4 hours of sitting around that I will never get back ha!

I have not yet packed one thing for my trip. I need to get cracking x

    Enjoy the trip!

Why don't you treat yourself at the airport to a spirit lifting perfume? Not all are scarily expensive. I like the Cl@rins one. I often spritz on some on my way to work. I never use my own, always use the testers in the stores. I always smell lovely without spending :o

Good Morning Newleaf and ladies

The conversation has moved on since last night (I literally fell asleep with my head on the keyboard while trying to compose a comment here - woke up cramped and freezing at 5am to find that my forehead had written a loooong line of rubbish lol).

So I'll just repeat Piquant's words:

You will never look like a monster, that picture is in your head. My advice is to get a second opinion and make it very clear how you feel. The emotional trauma of such an operation is very well known and there should be a lot of help for you out there.

If I was in your shoes, Newleaf I'd rush to get a second opinion - private not NHS - and work on building up my own immune system. For example, antibiotics play merry hell on the gut flora and once that's out of balance one is much more likely to get another infection. The solution is simple; either lacto-acidophilus pills or those little drinking yoghurts stuffed with 'friendly' bacteria - I take the latter for a month after every course of antibiotics.
I'm also a huge fan of echinacea as a short term boost, and a useful prophylactic at times when I know my system will be under stress - such as 'plane journeys when one is forced to share hundreds of strangers' germs for hours. :(

..That's not medical advice; just a suggestion for your own research. ;)

If your Mum is in the States, would she be willing to swap your $$-money card for cash? I agree with the others though; buying yourself a small treat is definitely in order! :)
