Thank you so much for all the support!
I am tempted to send her the bill, however as she is on JSA. What is so upsetting to me is that last month, just 5 short weeks ago I gave her a loan ( which was 1. substancial, and 2. I never give money with the expectation of giving it back) to bring her bills up-to-date, including her home telephone which had been cut off.
The phone is cut off again (how can that even happen in 5 weeks!) and I just cant bring my head around how someone can help you and then you steal from them. As OH said: Live and Leran

Am I missing something here or has your dish washer blown up as well as your washing machine or do you in fact have a really new fangled type machine that does both your smalls and your cutlery?

Hi Newleaf,
So sorry that your kindheartedness has been repaid in such a dishonourable way.
Personally, I wouldn't let her get away with it, as she will likely repeat the offence on someone else.
Could you speak to her about how this has made you feel pointing out that she has committed a criminal offence, then work out a repayment plan with her, put it in writing, get it witnessed and hold her to it, even if it's £5.00 a month for the next 100 years.
Tough love is called for now!! I have helped out so many people in the past, lending them money, but they always seem to go on and get themselves in exactly the same situation again. Now I send them to MSE and CCCS for help. We are trying to get our lives into order and so should they!!Weight 12 st 2lb - Now 11 stone 1 lb (-15 lb)

I think your solution sounds a really good idea and definitely worth a go.
The only people I lend money to these days is DS and DDIL2B, although I occasionally pay for things for DM, DF or DD with them paying me back when I see them. I stopped lending to friends years ago after getting my fingers burnt more than once. Never is such a drastic way as poor NL though.
