I might be able to throw some light on this one, as I bought a pack of these. They were on promotion at the lower price and some of the packs had 50% off - a good deal I thought. The promotion has now finished, although there are still a few of the 50% off packs around - saw them yesterday. :D

So you are saying Mr T made them CHEAPER during the 50% extra free, and has now gone back to normal price? And if you get the remaining 50% free ones then you are still getting a bonus anyway? I think thats what you mean...
They say you can't put a value on life... but I live it at half price!

That's right, though I doubt Mr T foot the bill for the promotion - they usually get the supplier to stand the cost of promotions.

It was the CS person talking to another CS person.

I wanted to stay but had the baby with me who was already way past food time and was doing her best at telling me so hence she had to come first.

    Pesty things children:rotfl:

Get your norks out and feed the baby there. customer service assistants don't like it and will generally refund you straight away (it offends other customers, apparently).

They are very necessary - what else would we feed children with?

  • I am also a confessed( but innocent) member of the "Banned From Tesco's Club" :D

Upon catching up on the threads, ( it took 3 days !!!), I can see such a club would have a membership of at least 6 or more by now !!.

Taxiphil is a victim of gross misconduct, defamation of charachter and more.......my sincere sympathies for his mistreatment and ban.

I am already preparing my own legal action, and according to my legal advisors, may lead to substantial damamges compensation.

but as my mom used to say, he who laughs last laughs the loudest. :grouphug:

Anyone who is or becomes banned, is welcome to PM me and I will help you as best I can.

I will be giving updates of my own case and the amount of compensation sought, and to guide you as to how you also can seek to proceed along similar route of recompense., apology and maybe even a kiss from Sir Terry :kisses: .

If Tesco's Managers or Head Office are reading this, they should NOT dish out bans to anyone who asks for an R&R. Take it from my lawyers, H/O should withdraw such damaging instructions forthwith.

    No, no, no,no, no..

They were originally 4.98 for 30. During the promo they were 6.98 for 30, plus 15 extra free. Me thinks with my cynical head that they whacked the price up to cover for the extra 15. I do know however from working for a supplier to Tesco's that the supplier foots the bill, so Mr T was winning both ways on this.

A two pound price hike? unlikely dont you think?

Surely things like this dont just go up by £2 all of a sudden?

Strikes me that they saw there was 50% extra in the pack so charged 50% on the price despite the pack saying the 50% was "free"

(and to all those pedantic ones out there, I realise £2 isnt 50%! )

Cant see any other reason for the sudden hike in prices.
This is far more common than you think and I actually reported a case which is currently being investigated against a major wholesaler with regards to packs of surf, charging £10.99 for 90 wash pack yet £14.99 for 90 wash pack with 30% free total wash pack 120. The particular site is currently having promotion prices checked on its complete product ranges as result.

    originally 16.7p per tablet (4.98 for 30)
    now 15.5p per tablet (6.98 for 30+15)

"50% free" should indicate a 33.3% decrease in price. (11p per tablet)
but these are about 10% decrease in price and about a 40% increase on the package price!

Thats just wrong, I hope Tesco really do read this thread as they may want to get on this matter before it gets pointed out by some of the consumer rights activists (R&Rers to you and me) that they have upset recently. They might do something like report them to trading standards and we wouldn't want that would we?

Can see the newspaper article now, "Consumer Rights activist banned from store but goes in anyway to prove Tesco are overcharging"
'They can't stop me says xxxxx, look at this, it says 50% free but they have actually put the price up of the box by a whopping 40%. I am no longer allowed to complain in the store as I am not supposed to go inside. I will have to take it straight to trading standards. Can you believe I was banned for pointing out pricing errors in the store to customer services and head office? They hav a policy of letting you keep the product if they overcharge you, turns out I was a bit too good at it and head office banned me as they said it was abuse to find too many! But the consumer needs their corner fighting so now I go straight to trading standards with any I find.'

If you don't fancy getting your norks out, maybe you could just get your steaks out instead? Is that an appropriate diet for a baby of a serial R&Rer ?

I have got a freezer full of meat and stuff and over the last few days I've been so tempted to feed the dog with a joint of finest beef or something, just so I can get a photo to send up to Kevin if/when I get my ban.
Don't mean to smug or ungrateful but it would so help me to vent my anger!
