Sorry but I'm not sure if this is correct. When I worked at Sainsburys as a price controller 7 years ago I was able to reduce any prices on the main frame that I wanted. I oculd also make BOGOFs work correctly and take cash off if a number of products were purchased. Everything was checked and had to be signed by the store manager but it was possible. If Tesco's cant do this 7 years on then they have a very poor computer system.
Perhaps Constantine could give us a definitive answer

So whats your take on them charging more for things that have "20% free" marked on them such as the peanuts or dishwashing tablets metioned in earlier posts?

Fairy Dishwasher liquid tabs are currently 6.98 for 30 with 50% extra free meaning a total of 45 tabs. However there are still some old packs without the 50% extra and somebody left the old 4.98 label up. 60 quids worth for me!

It does however raise the question why they were cheaper without 50% extra free? Surely MR T wouldn't put up the prices - and then claim that it was 50% free would they now?

I assume this is one of the posts you refer to and my take is that when the 50% free offer ends they may stay at the new £6.98 price but I have no idea

    I still believe in incompetance

Didn't Constantine once tell us the computers could be updated manually at store level? Apologies if I got that wrong Constantine but I do recall something along those lines.

Anyway, virtually all of the misprices are due to stores leaving out of date posters and SELs on display, not errors on the computers.

Actually, Constantine has answered this question before. Stores can override the central pricing database. It's how some stores got around the Just Cause/Xbox 360 problem - they altered the database in their own stores to take off the £20 at the till.
In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

A two pound price hike? unlikely dont you think?

Surely things like this dont just go up by £2 all of a sudden?

Strikes me that they saw there was 50% extra in the pack so charged 50% on the price despite the pack saying the 50% was "free"

(and to all those pedantic ones out there, I realise £2 isnt 50%! )

Cant see any other reason for the sudden hike in prices.
