pfpf wrote:SAVE THIS THREAD
guys oh guys, i am new to this thread(about 3days)and i read every post. i might not have grasped the whole concept yet, but i want the thread to remain open - please. i want the discussion to be able to continue, which wont happen if the bickering continues.
do you really want a single member to be able to bring down this whole thread?
i only see one poster in this thread who seems to be against the R&R concept, but several "regualrs" seem to be biting at the bait - continuously
the said poster is wrong, but by arguing with them, its not looking good to the mods.
the said poster will WIN if the thread gets pulled. just bite your lips and let then have their say. if you dont reply, they will go elsewhere.
SAVE THIS THREAD
already apologised to the mods and pm'd redfox
and i hope you don't suggest me as the one to bring down the thread.....can't help upsetting ...........0 -
evening all, how are we all tonight? any decent R&Rs for anyone tonight? The regulars?0
-
evening josh, nah they've been doing the argument thing again. Some interesting stuff on taxiphil if you aint spotted yet. Dudes been banned nationwide and lost a shed load of points (all of em!)0
-
oh right what we been arguing about then? moralities of R&R?
taxiphil's been banned nationwide thats the last I heard, anything else happend on that one?
cheers mate.0 -
1) I have said before re novice R&R's asking basic Q's etc which irritate veterans, but I think it can apply to any poster who airs views you disagree with. If you cannot be civil or helpful. Don't reply. Leave it to someone who will help/keep civil:o
2) Maybe if we stopped all the general chit-chat it would help. Yes it is amusing to read all the banter between the regulars - but you are adding to the work load of the mods etc and making the thread TOOOooo long to be really useful - in my humble opinion:A pm each other
3) If you have asked a question a couple of times and not got an answer - drop it, or pm someone who you think might be able to help you
4) I agree that there may be Tesco agents posting here with the specific aim to get as much info as possible, and to stir up trouble so the thread is PERMANENTLY closed - not by the heavy hand of Tesco, but by our own lack of discipline.
Re the on-going confrontation with Tescos......I find it bewildering the amount of detail some poster give on this PUBLIC thread. Store location, exact wording of conversations with cs/ho. When you phoned, when they phoned back etc.
If HO get all the details from the stores as well, it won't take them long to tie in your 'user-name' on here with the latest dispute that has landed on their desk. They will then KNOW for definite that you are a fully paid up member of the R&R party, and not a 'innocent' naive member of the public. The fact that many advertise their trophies like badges of honour, and openly publicise how many different bundles they have got in the last few weeks is bound to get them in HO spotlight.
And before you all start, I am not disagreeing that TEsco overcharge, or that their activity is breaking the law, and that R&Ring isn't.
What I am suggesting is that posters be as circumspect on this thread as they would be in the store - you wouldn't go round waving your R&R check list, using the expresssion R&R at cs, or brag about "this is the third I've got from you free this week" or "I'll be back next week to get get a refund as well as this R&R, 'cos you haven't marked my receipt"- so maybe a bit more discretion on here would benefit us all.
Tesco presumably can find out enough about R&Rers without us spoonfeeding the information to them, and then being surprised when they take action we don't like.
As usual, if you want to start a slanging match over what I have said, pm me, then everyone else won't have to wade thru' 5 extra pages0 -
To clarify a few points that seem to be under confusion.
Re
Contract Law: The contract is concluded at point of sale ie once money has exchanged hands.
Amendments to contract: A contract can only be amended with the agreement of BOTH parties once completed. If the contract has been completed there can be NO amendments by either party without agreement for example a vendor can NOT impose conditions that were not present at the conclusion of the contract, such as the case of returning games etc, if the game was NOT sealed at time of contract being formed then the vendor can NOT at time of refund impose the condition that a seal has to be present.
If a customer purchases an item in the belief that if certain conditions are fulfilled ie buy a console and game and receive a discount then that condition MUST prevail at time of sale, if not then an offence has been committed, ie the customer has been misled and made the purchase based on misleading information. This should be reported to Trading Standards.
In the case of Tesco one of the conditions of sale is that if you are charged a higher price than that advertised instore then you will receive the goods and a refund, if this does NOT happen then you have a case under contract law and also there is question to answer to the Advertising Standards Authority.
Contract Law does not apply to r&r in that r&r is part of the agreed contract and cannot be withdrawn once the sale has been completed,ie you purchase the item based on point of sale material leading you to believe you are paying one price when you in fact pay a higher price, there is provision within the Sale of Goods Act and the Advertising Standards guidelines to cover such an instance.
The burdon is NOT on the consumer to ensure that at time of contract the contractual conditions are adhered to but on the vendor. Ie you are not as the consumer required to scrutinise pos for dates and other smallprint qualifications the onus is on the VENDOR to provide clear and unambiguous pricing indications AT ALL TIMES.
I hope this clears up and resolves the current debate.

Just had chance to catch up with this thread. Sincere thanks to everyone for their feedback and support.
Just for the record I wholly reject the suggestions of a few [STRIKE]trolls[/STRIKE] people that I've "abused" or "exploited" the policy, "pushed my luck", etc. I won't clog up this thread with another sermon, because the clever people (i.e. most of us) already know that the only criminals in all of this are Tesco. I have no case to answer.
Just to clarify a few questions about what's happened to me:
I've not had anything in writing yet about the ban or the removal of the Clubcard points, although I'd be surprised if there wasn't a letter in the post.
Yes, all the R+Rs were originally bought with a Clubcard in my girlfriend's name, although we just treated it like a joint account. A few weeks back we were given the third degree by a store manager about the Clubcard balance. At this point I started paying cash and not using a Clubcard for my R+Rs. Not because I thought R+Ring was doing anything wrong, but the incident with the manager made me realise the whole Clubcard scheme was a sinister mechanism for them to spy on us. But it was too late - they'd already made the connection between me and my g/f's Clubcard account. So they've now wiped out her points balance as a vindictive and childish act of punishment towards me. I bet they took great pleasure from it.
I suppose I should add that it could be the case that they've temporarily taken the points, pending some kind of investigation, and that they might give them back. Since I've had nothing in writing yet, I have to keep an open mind (and a hopeful mind) on this very remote possibility.0 -
Are there any special offers on where I can get something for nothing and along the way make some money too? You guys seem to know Tesco inside out....what about creating a forum dedicated to ripping off Tesco for us newbies.
You veterans keep this particular thread and the other mispriced Tesco threads looping over and over.
Perhaps if there was a start up thread for newbies and then a dedicated forum / threads for Tesco scams, it would be helpful.
Its not fair that we newbies have to check the threads to gather info...only for veterans to crack 'in' jokes about beef and gravy or Mr leahy chairman of tesco etc.... its boring for the rest of us and we havent got days to bring us up to speed. Hence the dedicated thread for newbies to scam Tesco.0 -
BTW....
Please dont respond with 'Tesco scammed us first or Its not a scam.
Dont want to read about consumers playing victims. Consumerism is a choice. Hence victimless unless you make the decision to become one.0 -
i went in my local store last night and the Xbox 360 and godfarher poster was up with the 20 quid off. However the poster had the top 10 games listed (or mayber 20) Then said GOTW Godfarther, save £20 when you buy with an XBOX360. Now that says to me that the discount is on the game not the console or am i wrong? and if i am does it still work cause if it does im going today0
