Thats partly why all the 'new' people keep asking "what, how, why?" - even if they start at post 1 it doesn't make much sense, because in reality post 1 is post 23,000 or something. It's like starting to read a book from chapter 6.
Maybe an updated first post explaining all there is to know about R&Ring would be a good idea? I think Redfox's post has always been at the start of every thread, so it really is almost post 1 of the discussion. I find that many of the newbies who post to this thread haven't actually read the first post.
What do you think, Redfox? An updated post one explaining all there is to know about R&Ring? Maybe we can avoid a lot of the repeat newbie questions on the thread then? Big red font saying: IF YOU ARE NEW TO THE THREAD, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST!
Sounds like an idea to me.In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?

As have I (I think I joined at thread 8, only glanced at it before) - but it would've made much more sense earlier if I had read from the real post 1 (which I didn't know existed at the time).
Not all posts are available either it seems - I've just done a search for " Tesco misprice discussion" and it gives back thread I, II, III, 8, 9, 10, 11.
People are going to keep going round in circles if threads keep getting closed.
EDIT: Just read the post by Taken and yeah, that makes sense. I was thinking something similar - a condensed history of all the threads in the first post. (although if there was a tesco board then it could be a 'sticky' topic in there. :> ).
The problem with the current 'post1' by redfox is it contains barely any information - the stuff you and nesima have been talking about (plus hundreds of other useful/insightful posts about the legality of what tesco are doing). Thats what needs to be preserved.ॐ Signature Removed by Someones Mum. ॐ0 -

By the way. I do not personally object to posters listing their 'haul' of R&R's (Mcdonag is still my hero) but I was TRYING to point out that Tesco see all this.
If you post on here that you've just grabbed your third bundle this week from Milton Keynes,
and you phoned up KK at HO at 11am this morning for him to sort it out, as its clearly a rock solid R&R,
and he promised to phone you back at 2.30.
It was a DS lite, and the game was "Don't I look nice"
and the manager called David photocopied the poster for me,
and the cs woman ( who had a blue rinse) said "you're the second today..."
and they said it was the last one they had in stock,
and the Red haired security man took my car reg.....eh well they might twig on the connection and refuse to play ball.
Yes it is all very entertaining to read, but for YOUR OWN benefit, maybe keep the details to the bare minimum, at least until you have your R&R.
Just my PERSONAL opinion
P.S I've checked out the new ethics thread - yes I agree this would help THIS thread keep on topic
I agree that people should be careful when posting details of their escapades, as it can help Tesco identify them. I've noticed people post store names in the Misprices thread, too. For their own anonymity, they should avoid naming stores, or giving away information that could lead to them being identified by Tesco. I remember one poster saying that he was called his user name by CS in-store when getting a refund. The store had spotted and identified him by his posts on MSE.In a rut? Can't get out? I'm flattered you think anything I have posted is worth keeping, I thought I was merely commenting on what other people have said0 -

Please don't take any disciplinary action against 'MyUserNamesTaken' for their rudeness in the debate. I think it is important that people are allowed to express their views and I accept that sometimes individuals get over excited when trying to make their point and end up using inappropriate language (perhaps that comes down to upbringing and education).
It is difficult to have a debate without all views being represented.
That's not really rudeness, you should be able to speak your mind.0 -
I am concerned that we seem to have a lot of new posters/readers who think they have discovered the way to shop for free and make a LOAD of money - risk free. I think newbies should be made aware there are RISKs involved in this.
R&Ring is not illegal, but Tesco do not need to have a reason to ban you from their premises - your local or nationally.
Managers can and have refused an R&R full-stop.
HO have refused to overrule them
Sels/posters have been removed, and their existance when you bought the item denied
R&Rers have been escorted to managers offices and 'intimidated'/threatened.
Your name, address, credit card and club card detail can be asked for by the store ( even if they cannot legally insist on this)
R&Rers have reported being followed around their stores by staff/security
Security staff have acted in an intimidating way both at the cs desk, and elsewhere on Tesco property
You can have all your club card points removed
etc
I think maybe the First post needs either extending, or a second 'information' post added. I feel in the light of recent development ,the last para on "What are my rights?" needs to be extended somewhat.
Perhaps a condensed listing of all the 'legal' issues involved. Or at least a link thru to a legal thread, where views on the rights and wrong of Tesco overpricing would be available.
I do welcome all newbies here - It isn't THAT long since I started reading these threads myselfI just worry that you are taking an unbalaced view of R&Ring.
The problem with giving a potted history of R&Ring to new readers, and so negating the need to read all the previous posts, is that you might miss out on all the 'nasty' information that you may not want to hear. If you have been reading this thread long enough, you would have heard numerous accounts of the negative side of R&Ring.
I think some newbies have been seduced by the lure of unlimited free bundles. They need a reality check, and encouraged to THINK carefully before you grab a console to 'pop your cherry'
Sorry for writing lengthy posts ( esp when I criticise others for off topic chatting  ), but I do worry about some of the views/questions posted by newbies - it must be my mothering instincts. I'm worried about you all0 -

Seriously, he's trolling. Don't bother responding to him. I won't be from now on, as I don't want this thread to close. In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?

puddings wrote:I've just been to "Leyland Extra" had three packs of overpriced steak, two about £4 and one about £7
The CS woman sulked and tannoyed the manager. When he arrived he told me that "because of their bulk purchase policy, they would refund two packets in full and refund only the difference on the third" I queried this bulk purchase policy and he pointed to a printed notice stuck to the board beneath the "If things dont add up" sign.
the notice read
"BULK PURCHASE POLICY
In the interests of all customers, some products are limited to 2 items per customer."
The manager left the desk and I asked the CS woman, if that meant that I'm not allowed to buy three packets of crisps anymore? She said "No it only means refunds". "So you'll sell three items at the higher price, but you won't refund them" I asked sarcastically, to which she replied "yes, but you'll be refunded the difference on the others" ! Surely it should not be a bulk purchase policy, but instead a bulk REFUND policy???
After I agreed to a 2 from 3 refund, they then got a folder out titled "REFUND CUSTOMER TRACKING SHEETS", and wrote down my name and my visa card number (it doubles as my clubcard) as well at the refund value, barcode and reason.
Bear in mind that I was only querying 3 single steaks with a total value of about £15 not a major refund. It was a bit over the top don't you think. On top of that the CS woman said that they would refund the two £4 steaks and give me the difference on the £7 one. I started to kick up a fuss and she did eventually refund me £11.
Has anyone else seen a similar notice go up recently on the wall behind the desk in other stores or is it just Leyland taking matters into their own hands?
Just a thought ... Ask if Tesco have the CUSTOMER TRACKING SHEETS comply with the Data Protection Act? I'm no expert but I seem to recall any data store (not just on computer) needs to be registered. What it holds and how it would be used.

I don't consider anything you've written in that post to be off topic. It's all relevant and needs to be taken into consideration. A few days back, I made the same point myself when a newbie was talking about going round as many stores as possible to get consoles, thinking it was risk-free. There are ways of dealing with things if anything you've posted about actually happens to a customer. However, it will be a long fight for those involved. In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
