By the time you go back, they may have taken the "£20 off" away, and as its illegal to take photos without permission, I would imagine they would not give you any R&R's with that evidence.......

Just trying to be helpful guys !!!. So here goes .

Tesco's are open access entrances at most stores, and taking photos is not illegal on such premises. Tesco is classed as private property which you are entering under license (of the owner).

Unless expressly forbidden and clearly communicated, You are allowed to take photos on private property that is publically accessible (although you are not allowed to publish them).
They take my photos/video in store, and they claim they would use such cctv as evidence in any criminal action.

They are displaying SEL's on a poster and not until I contract with them at a till and hand over my money. The SEL is an 'invitation to treat' (ie buy the item for the said price), any contractual obligations are made at the point of sale. The checkout.
(Esso Petroleum vs HM customs & excise.) It is only when the till operator hands me my till receipt that I am able to definitely check an overcharge. ( Breach of contract.)

This may sound a silly question, but I got a free cruise to Norway and wondered if there are any Tescos over there. I know they have "Trolls" because I saw it on a website.

Are you saying that the 1987 Act overides Contract Law.

What I have explained concerning contract law is true.

Why to you attempt to undermine my statement of the law by making a personal attack ? 'please don't talk about stuff of which you obviously have very little understanding or knowledge.'

You don't know me or what my understanding of these matters are !
I would kindly ask you to refrain from attempting insults.

Well, have you got a law degree or haven't you?

The Consumer Protection Act makes it a criminal offence to give misleading price indications. Contract Law has nothing to do with it. The OP you originally replied to was talking about Trading Standards being interested in Tesco giving misleading price indications. The OP was referring to Tesco using the excuse of "out of date offer" as a reason for not refunding an overcharged customer, even though it is Tesco's policy to refund in full the purchase price of any item for which the customer has been overcharged. This has happened AFTER the item has been purchased, hence Contract Law is irrelevant. The contract has already been formed and some degree of specific performance has taken place. Trading Standards would not accept "out of date offer" as an excuse for the overcharge, as the POS should not have been left up. Leaving up an out of date offer misleads the customer into believing that the offer is still valid. This affects the customer's purchasing decision. Thus, the customer has been overcharged when she/he buys the item and the discount does not come off. The only time Contract Law is relevant in all of this is if the customer questions the offer before buying the item. Tesco then has the right to refuse to sell the item with the offer in place. However, if Tesco then fails to remove the offending POS, Tesco is committing a criminal offence under the CPA. This, however, is not relevant, as the OP was talking about what has been said AFTER the sale has taken place.

I can tell how much understanding you have of the Law by the crap you're posting on this thread. I don't need to "know" you. Your posts tell me all I need to know. You didn't even understand what the OP was talking about.

I studied business law as part of a business studies degree.

But to be fair that was over 10 years ago, I am not aware of contract law changing since my studies. If it has please tell me when ?
