No, r&r doesn't work if you're charged less than the ticketed price. You wouldn't be happy to go to the desk and complain that the price was lower than the price on the shelf and if they asked for more money off you! If you've got it at a cheaper price than on the shelf, you've already been lucky.0 -

I was shopping late last night and there were glorious reductions galore on meat, bread etc which I happily take for a Charity. My budget is limited, but I help in this way whenever I can. As I did my sums, a Manager arrived and said I would be banned from buying Reduced items if I picked things up, but did not put them in my trolley.
I was reading what they were!
Curiouser and curiouser.........

I phoned head office and they will not budge an inch as they say it was out of date so r&r does'nt stand. Someone please help me get this sorted properly

I agree with Ben.
I had a similar issue with an expensive item last year. They refused to budge ahd HO wouldn't help.
I wrote a snail mail letter to the store manager(ring and get his/her name first) and explained I was giving him 7 days to reply before taking the matter to TS. I also said I would be writing to Sir T. about the lack of service and false representaion of SEL's in the store.
I received a phone call the next day asking me to come in and collect the cash.0 -
Hi Taxiphil,
I've had experience with both cctv requests and complainig to The Information Commissioner (who oversees the implementation of the data protection act) after being wrongfully stopped and held on "suspicion" of shoplifting at B&Q.
Anyway, the £10 charge is the standard for a cctv request. I think it is reasonable for Tescos to ask you which stores you've been in. If you don't tell them they won't look and even if you appeal to the Information Commissioner, I would expect them to agree with Tescos that it would be unreasonable to be expected to trawl all their tapes.
Give them specific dates and places and they do have to find you (you'll need to supply a photo too). Make sure you mention in the request that you've been accused of illegal activity, that's your valid reason for wanting the tapes, to prove your innocence.
From the B&Q experience (Tescos may be different) it isn't tesco staff who look, but an external company who do the work (it'll still cost them though) so you probably won't get the satisfaction of that employee you hate doing it personally.
I would take the issue further with the Information Commisisoner if you're dissatisfied, Tescos may take little interest in you as an individual, but they will have to enter into a serious dialogue with them.
I would also approach the information commissioner on the bigger picture. It's reasonable that tescos would keep clubcard/shopping data about you, and I'd guess reasonable for them to keep tabs on the activity of criminals. But your activity isn't illegal, and for them to keep or distribute (possibly libellous) data about you as an individual for the purposes of preventing your legal actions could have serious data protection and civil liberties implications, which I think the Information Commissioner would be interested in
I did get compensation in the end, the only thing I would say looking back on it it not to get too obsessed with it, or waste too much of your own time on it, let them do the work/answer to the Information Commissioner.
Good luck, and before you send off your cctv request, try and find out where the Troll works, what could be better than getting cctv footage from tescos of you r&r-ing in their store.0 -
i tried my first r+r when i was in liverpool at the weekend... cd clock radio philips thing... expired SEL said 21.97 or something like that and below shelo had previous price of 24.95... so i picked it up and scanned it through and bought it... and it cost 19.97!!! !!!!!!...?! so i took it to CS and said it was the wrong ting and got a refund.
how do you all find so much mispriced stock? do you buy hundreds of stuff and take all the stuff priced ok back, or do you find these misprices whilst buying things you actually wanted?
cheers

Just back from a scamming trip, got another 24 cans of Fosters Lager (500cl),
SEL says 2 for £6 goes through as 2 for £6.30. £18.90 R&R, every little helps.
Now when I got 24 cans yesterday I was 'served' by the same CS member of staff, who left the SEL up yesterday and left it up today ! where do Tesco get their staff, Dumbf@ckistan ?
So I will go back this evening and get some more ! I have been 'buying' 6 packs at a time, how many do you think I can get in one go ? reference their bulk refund policy.
I also got 5 packs of Finest Aberdeen Angus Fresh Beef Burgers (2 on the grill at the moment), pack said £1.59, SEL £1.49, £7.95 R&R, every little helps.
Still can't get any electrical items, DVDs, games etc that I can sell on.0 -

Most stores have a price checker/scanner attached to a pillar somewhere, blue box with a glass panel front. Scan the barcode on the box to check what price is on the checkout computer.0
