But the OP actually got the RandR.......that makes it even stranger....Couponing....."every little hurts"
Half of the people can be part right all of the time, Some of the people can be all right part of the time.
But all the people can't be all right all the time. .........I think Abraham Lincoln said that.

I would be back in tomorrow for another........or so.
No CS did remove SEL, but thought that she would explain away error of store and legality of situation of leaving old SELS up, I had not said a word apart from 'discount has not come off'!
but then when I first reported it she was adamant that I must have picked up wrong batteries (Tesco NEVER get it wrong you know, snigger... :rotfl: )0 -
Yes she did give me an R&R, but I did look at her as if she was crazy for seeming to suggest that I should always have a magnifying glass at the ready0

They tend to generous when the r&r is only a few quid, but when it comes to the price of a mobile phone they pull out "the SEL has clearly expired" HO generally back up the store.0 -

I'd be interested to know what she said about this. I'm a bit unclear about the legal position of the consumer when a SEL has an expiry date. However, one thing I do know is that pricing regulations state that the price of an item should be clearly legible, unambiguous and marked on or near the item. If the SEL has expired and obscures the actual price, effectively there is no price shown for the item and in my view they'd be in breach of the order. They can't have it both ways. It's either the actual price or, if they fall back on the expiry date then the item is unpriced.
One other possible point is whether the expiry dates conform to Disability Discrimination laws?0 -
not a legal expert but im pretty sure the price that should be payed is the price displayed AT THE POINT OF SALE. i.e. on the shelf when you buy it, if the offer has ended thats their fault not yours. Legally they have 2 sell it to you at that price.
The date thing is ridiculous. That in essence means you have to check ALL 2000 SELS on Special offer before you buy them just incase one is out of date. Total Rubbish- Their responsability to change them- not ours 2 get our glasses out ans start reading every 1.0 -
well, i've done it....i am no longer an R&R virgin
my local store seems to be on the ball. 3 visits now and nothing overpriced on the meat/fish/cheese type things. and i have NOT seen one out of date yellow SEL.
so i thought i'd have a look round at the things i remembered from reading these threads
i found the doritos! and they had the BBQ flavour. interstingly the SEL for this flavour stated "meaty" which i guess is where the error comes in?
so popped 2 packs in at £1.08 each or 2 for £2.00.
went though checkout with a couple of bits we needed anyway and sure enough the discount DID NOT come off.
no CS desk instore but found the CS lady and said "i think i have been overcharged on these". "oh, i'll go and have a look". i didnt follow the golden rule and stood where i was and waited for her return, as the display on these things was massive i didnt think she'd pull the whole display.
she came back and said "yes you're right, i'll get you a refund and let the duty manager know so he can sort the price error" SEL NOT removed.
this was when i started to feel a bit hot under the collar. after all my boasting, that "i would have no problem sorting out an R&R", "me being a big guy", "i wont be intimidated" etc etc, i actually felt pretty stressed while preparing myself for the old "oh, i get the product AND a full refund dont i"?
no need to worry, the CS returned with a smile on her face and £2.16 in cash(i paid on a card)and an un adjusted receipt :j i thanked her but made no mention of the full refund. she knew the policy and she obviously accepted i knew the policy, no need to fuss i thought.
so i reckon as my store "appears" to be on the ball, R&R may not be a major issue here, and therefore the rare ones dont attract much attention.
so there we have it, im off the mark and with a nice experience to boot. i will be more than happy to R&R in my local in future knowing the attitude of the CS.
next week i move on to 2 localish extra stores to see if i can find that elusive meat bargain
wednesdays are general the best R&R days? is that right?
thanks for reading my story :beer:0 -

To try and claim a price is incorrect because the offer has expired is pretty weak, imo. Not sure I could try that one with a straight face.Who or what was I before you came in to my life
I am not sure0 -

You are joking right? Tesco have known about this forum for blinking ages, we have employees posting helpful comments regularly and Head Office certainly know about it.
Errrrrrr, but there are still shedloads of misprices out there....and even URGENT emails didn't seem to help alert some stores to take down POS as regards the console misprice!
Ha, you are on another planet mate (or you are a regular winding us up..?).;)
EDIT: P.S. misprices only on this thread please....got any we don't know about?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
