This forum is complete abuse of the Tesco refund system so i must say THANK YOU once again for all the detailed information regarding refunds, clubcard scams etc, - I look forward to reading your messages and e-mailing action to take to all Tesco stores in the UK.
This is a DISCUSSION so it should be over on the other thread.
Ooh and your welcome for the info!
Nothing will change though as they have known about this info for ages now!
Why can I put a mispriced CD on here on a Monday and people are still picking it up on Saturday?! Why have BBQ Doritos been wrong for 3 weeks?!Keep SmilingSite member number 24

my local store seems to be on the ball. 3 visits now and nothing overpriced on the meat/fish/cheese type things. and i have NOT seen one out of date yellow SEL.
so i thought i'd have a look round at the things i remembered from reading these threads
i found the doritos! and they had the BBQ flavour. interstingly the SEL for this flavour stated "meaty" which i guess is where the error comes in?
so popped 2 packs in at £1.08 each or 2 for £2.00.
went though checkout with a couple of bits we needed anyway and sure enough the discount DID NOT come off.
no CS desk instore but found the CS lady and said "i think i have been overcharged on these". "oh, i'll go and have a look". i didnt follow the golden rule and stood where i was and waited for her return, as the display on these things was massive i didnt think she'd pull the whole display.
she came back and said "yes you're right, i'll get you a refund and let the duty manager know so he can sort the price error" SEL NOT removed.
this was when i started to feel a bit hot under the collar. after all my boasting, that "i would have no problem sorting out an R&R", "me being a big guy", "i wont be intimidated" etc etc, i actually felt pretty stressed while preparing myself for the old "oh, i get the product AND a full refund dont i"?
no need to worry, the CS returned with a smile on her face and £2.16 in cash(i paid on a card)and an un adjusted receipt :j i thanked her but made no mention of the full refund. she knew the policy and she obviously accepted i knew the policy, no need to fuss i thought.
so i reckon as my store "appears" to be on the ball, R&R may not be a major issue here, and therefore the rare ones dont attract much attention.
so there we have it, im off the mark and with a nice experience to boot. i will be more than happy to R&R in my local in future knowing the attitude of the CS.
next week i move on to 2 localish extra stores to see if i can find that elusive meat bargain
wednesdays are general the best R&R days? is that right?
thanks for reading my story
different CS person, different experience, I always shop at certain stores on certain days and avoid the days when the Sargent Major's are on duty.0 -

Because no-one wants to buy them and Tesco just wants to be rid of them?
Anyway, this better get back on topic or someone will complain and want their money back (and to be able to keep the goods)0 -

One person goes to customer services says there is a problem - sign isn't right, multibuy doesn't come off "can I have refund?". Why don't customer services tell Head office then head office e-mail all stores - why do they need you to read it off a forum and email head office. The whole idea of Supermarkets rewarding customers for pointing out errors is so they can be rectified, if Tesco can't be bothered fixing problems reported to their customer service staff so that the items are correctly charged, then people discussing errors on a forum I can only see it being Tesco's fault.0 -
Constantine wrote:To try and claim a price is incorrect because the offer has expired is pretty weak, imo. Not sure I could try that one with a straight face.
That's discrimination.
Isn't it? Thats the only way round trying to claim an out of date offer I can see....anyone got a better one? or do you even need one?0 -
wireframe wrote:Well, maybe, but you are legally bound to sell at the lowest advertised price, its not MY fault I need glasses to read 10 point text 15 ft up on the ceiling whee the offer is havging, saying "offer expires yesterday"

I think Constantine is answering this from a Tesco Managers point of view.Couponing....."every little hurts"
Half of the people can be part right all of the time, Some of the people can be all right part of the time.
But all the people can't be all right all the time. .........I think Abraham Lincoln said that.

I think you are probably right.
The dates do not tend to be suspended from the cieling, the point under discussion was the dates included on the SEL's. Which are equally a !!!!!! to read (and irrelevent to an item having an incorrect price).Who or what was I before you came in to my life
I am not sure0 -
If the label is out of date then it can often remain in place because the price has stayed the same! The Duracell batteries one has not, however! The price is no longer "2 for £4.50" therefore it should not remain in place. It is not up to the shopper to notice an "out of date" misleading label. Most will only look at the price (unless you're an MSE'r).
Also the store does have the right not to sell you items if they find out it is wrong before you buy it!
The legal term is "Offer to Treat". The store makes you an offer to buy an item at a stated price. You decide to buy. They spot it's a Plasma TV at £89.90 on the SEL instead of £899.00 and refuse to sell it to you. You do not have the right to insist that they sell it to you at that price, and they are unlikey to do so. You may however report them to Trading Standards for misleading pricing! If they sell it to you though, without noticing the error, then you have entered into a contract to buy at that price and are due an "R & R" under their well publicised policy!Keep SmilingSite member number 24
