OK, let me just say again...
Freddie and Bungle Jemson: No, I was not with the child when the incident occurred. As I said, my son was with my grandson.
My son can't phone the police because he's in America till this weekend.
I can't take my grandson to the police because my son is dealing with this and will continue to do so when he gets home. I just asked for advice so that I might be better informed as to where he stands.
I'm promoting a public hanging for the JJB employee? For heaven's sake!!!!!! Where did I say that??0 -

However, the reason why I asked whether you believe that the employee did not think that the woman was the owner of the iPod is because that is the crux of the issue of good faith. Whether or not the employee was irresponsible or negligent, if he genuinely believed that the woman was the owner then he has acted in good faith. It is that simple. Whatever criticisms you wish to level at the employee (and I grant you, there are many possible criticisms) the allegation that he didn't act in good faith seems to be unfounded here.
Completely accept your point. BUT....was his belief arrived at unfairly?
What made him believe the woman was the owner because as far as I can see, any old Tom !!!!!! or Harry could have picked this ipod up just by saying 'it's mine'.
Surely there has to be some sort of basis in fact, for that belief to have been made in the first place?
I should add I'm genuinely not trying to be awkward here, I find this quite interesting but feel free to ignore me if I'm becoming annoying. :rotfl:Herman - MP for all!0 -
This is one of the reasons my Son WONT be getting an Ipod or Iphone, he is just not mature enough to be responsible to own one. Were I to leave my Ipod\Ipad\Iphone\Laptop\Netbook behind in any shop, I would be staggered and surprised were it to be handed in, I would half expect some joey to walk out with it and skip home,
Were I that neglectful with such an expensive appliance, it would serve me right for not appreciating its value to such a point I could literally forget I had it with me. Were it my Sons, it would serve me just as right for assuming he was smart enough to be trusted with one in the first place.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Surely the issue here is not whether children should be given expensive items of technology but instead one of how JJB dealt with an item of lost property that was found and handed in by one of their staff then given to someone who was not the owner - and what involvement (or not) the police should have.
I agree the child may have been careless and the parent possibly naive by not making sure his son didn't have anything of value on him before they left for the shops but the point is that an ipod was lost, found in the shop by JJB staff then STOLEN by some scumbag chancer who just happened to overhear a conversation between 2 JJB staff.0
