Hello again
RE:Timeout, I was told to use time out as more a cooling off period than punishment as DS does not have a great deal of control of his emotions-so what would happen is I would sit in front of him and encourage deep breaths to calm down, until he had, then I would explain why the behaviour was unacceptable-punishment would be a loss of priviledge. The problem was timeout erupted into aggression from DS hence why I had to stop using it as it was aggravating rather than alleviating it. So when DS was being physically aggressive/spitting at me/banging his own head on the wall I would restrain him, but that was not how timeout started IYSWIM?
I am hoping CAMHS have some good coping strategies, the school have been excellent and very supportive, so I am hoping I can help DS overcome these issues in his behaviour.
Also, the lady who is struggling with the behaviour of her 3 year old daughter, I urge you to get support from your Health Visitor/local children's centre as they will help you work through lots of strategies and support you(even if like my DS they don't appear to work)-the support is the most important bit-parenting is hard and to admit you find it difficult isn't failing-it is trying to be the best you can be for your children. NOW IF I COULD JUST TELL MYSELF THAT!!!!!0
