"Pay Monthly or pay by Direct Debit? You're welcome to use your phone in over 160 countries abroad. If you're new to Virgin Mobile all we ask is that you've either paid 3 monthly bills or added a deposit of £150 to your account. You can use your airtime deposit to pay for calls while you're abroad, then use the rest when you get home."
Yes I missed this, I applied over the phone from recieving a marketing mailer for NTL customers. I asked many questions including use abroad and I was not given the correct information until I called them back after recieving the phone and experiencing other problems0 -
Ok people. i found the forum and read it and thought great. Was ready to sign up and thought I need a new phone for this Sim to work in. Any comments on what network phone I will have to buy or will I have to fork out for a sim free phone?

With this offer, you can get a free Lobster 575 phone and the SIM and phone will cost £3.99 delivery and thats it.
I had major problems porting my number over from O2 and i managed to get Virgin to pay my 1st months bill !!! so i'm happy there customer service is fantastic
I'm currently using the free Lobster 575 phone i got and i'm finding the battery life is very poor, lasts 2days 3 days at most, anyone else experiencing this ??0 -

Virgin network uses t-mobile. Virgin sim will work in a t-mobile locked handset. Or you can take the offer of the free lobster or use an unlocked handset0 -
T Mobile. that's interesting. Might have to look at their deal tomorrow.Andyboy :idea:0

You may find that the battery life will improve after a few charge/use cycles.Join the Sarcasm Appreciation Society.

really? thats strangebut thanks for the help.
So i assume you have the same phone? If so, how are you finding it ?0 -
battery life isnt great, but the what can we expect from a phone that costs £0.99 in pounland
i reckon you get about 45 minutes of talktime b4 its goes dead
yea i been charging it about 3 -4 times a week
good thing is it's small and light, no problems carrying it around, and has good reception where i live0 -
I saw the offer when I went to get prices on international calls and signed up for it. I also have Alpha telecom account and they now have a access number (mobile no) which gives u 1p a min to 44 countries
So I rang virgin today and they said I am entitled to a phone since I have broadband+tel+cable. This was not advertised on the ntl site or virgin. The person I spoke to was top class, she even asked me for my IMEI numbers of my other phones so if they ever get stolen/lost then they are blacklisted
So far Im impressed with virgin service
Fing with the free fone is if the lobster is not availble, apparently they will discuss with you about an alternative fone
so not bad eh
I can now fone alpha telecom, 1p a minute for intl calls and virgin dont charge me as it comes out of my free mins
and a bonus, I get a free fone. Albeit perhaps not a great fone but decent enuff to give to the kids eh:hello:

Shopping Tips
Don't spend five pounds to dry clean a shirt. Donate it to the charity shop instead. They'll clean it and put it on a hanger. Next morning buy it back for two pounds.0 -
I've been trying to ring them all morning on 0800 408 9342 but i can only get an answer machine which basically says that due to overhelmed response with cable offer thay cannot take my call... Does anyone tried to ring them lately??0
