  • I have recently used Ross Coates and the person I was dealing with left the business and Anup Chakravorty took over handling the purchase. From the first conversation he came across as professional and thorough, his attention to detail and communication was second to none, I was kept informed on the purchase, each step of the process was made easier with an indepth explanation of what was required, I was also kept abreast of any delays and what actions had been taken to overcome these delays. Anup also chased the mortgage lenders and got amendments made to the offer to expedite matters, I cannot recommend him highly enough, in a profession where jargon is used to explain away poor service, Anup is a breath of fresh air.

I have just used Ross Coates Solicitors for my sale and purchase and have been thoroughly impressed and cannot fault the service that I have received.

I like some was dubious after reading some of the negative reviews; however I can confirm that it was certainly not the case for our experience.

Anup was our solicitor and I found him to be a pleasure to deal with. I was kept regularly informed of the progress of our transactions, so there was really no need to chase. If I did, this was to chase up whether information had been received from the other sides solicitors and Anup was always happy to help.

I used Ross Coates Solicitors as they were the most reasonably priced for the services we required. I obtained quotes from numerous solicitors and was shocked at how much the quotations varied for the same work (up to £1500 in our case)

I really appreciated the fact that Anup would go out of his way to explain the legal processes to me, so that I had an understanding of what was going on and how long things were likely to take from that stage and this was never an effort for him and put me at ease. I also found his secretary Aimee very polite and friendly to deal with if Anup was unavailable.

To give you an idea of timescales, we instructed on our purchase on 29/05/14 and we are due to complete next week on 12/09/14. This could have been completed back on 13/08/14 if it had not been for the first time buyers not being able to complete until early September (who would have thought it would be the first time buyers causing the delay)

In short, I would most certainly recommend Anup/Ross Coates Solicitors to anyone seeking a solicitor for sale and purchase transactions.
  • I used Ross Coates for a recent flat sale in London. Anup and Amy were really great.

My sale was complicated by a Housing Association, clueless buyer and pretty slow and lazy solicitor on the other side. Anup & Amy worked with me to understand issues as they popped up, advised me on the best resolution and helped push things through despite a few last minute issues.

I'd certainly recommend Ross Coates. The only thing I'd suggest is that they move towards a more electronic process when they can to save on time and postage but overall they've been really good.

I've just completed on a house purchase using [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM] of Ross Coates. He's brilliant (greatly supported by [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM]). [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM] doesn't miss a trick that's in your favour and, although he doesn't 'do' emails (he'd be snowed under if he did), he never once failed to be on the end of the phone, or to give me the time, advice and re-assurance that I needed at that stage. The fee was almost embarrassingly low, considering the amount of work he put in. Hopefully, this will be our last move, but I wouldn't hesitate to use him again. In fact, we're going back to Ross Coates to draw up our new wills. Michael
  • I can only assume that the recent posts saying how pleased they are with Ross Coates work for the company or are close friends/family with them because apart from the first phone call I had from them to pay my retainer fee I have barely heard from them since.

I won't post details of my experience as I am currently going through the complaints process but this is just a warning to other people out there - they may seem cheap, but they don't do anything so you'll lose out on money in the end.
  • We recently used Ross Coates Solicitors for a sale and purchase.
Anup was our named solicitor and was top class.
He was polite, professional, helpful, thorough and extremely good at his job!
Anup spent time talking us through anything we didn't understand or any concerns or questions we raised.
Aimee, Anup's secretary was also fantastic. They made a great team! She was always available to speak to us if Anup was busy and was up to date with our files and could often resolve our questions quickly and efficiently.
Anup and Aimee made our move a stress free experience and we cannot thank them enough for all their hard work and efficiency.
We would highly recommend anyone to use them and have done so already!
  • We have just finished what can only be described as a real nightmare. Ross Coates and his team are in my view a bunch of cowboys.
Constant failure to return emails, constant disregard to basics. In fact I did most of there work for them and looking at the other responces very similar. AVOID AND PAY FOR A QUALITY SERVICE NOT ROSS COATES
  • Still waiting for the proceeds of my sale 5 days post completion. Shocking Service. So you probably had a lucky escape.

  • I have just completed a sale with Ross Coates. I am not posting all the details here at the moment, as I will be speaking to a solicitor tomorrow who deals with negligence cases. Needless to say, I don't recommend Ross Coates and I will post full details here once safe to do so without the risk of jeopardising the potential legal case against them.

having used them myself for a purchase last year (i've posted previously on this thread) and reading the more recent posts, i think it's fair to say.....

if you get Anup you might get a good experience

anyone else you almost certainly will not!

i noticed one poster got a goodwill cheque.....no such luck for me. i complained and also didn't receive a response within the required timeframe but no gesture of goodwill for me!

definitely wouldn't recommend them unless you're on a very tight budget
